after sleeping on it, im still pee'd off so to speak i dont like being humilated pulis so heres whats going to happen pulis: 1) you are going to drop griffin and buy a right back 2) play dicko at left back 3) buy a CREATIVE left midfielder and drop cresswell 4) drop mama and play fuller 5) emphasise keeping posession of the football in training sessions 3-0 down at half time against an average bolton team just isnt good enough 1) Agree 2) No - We need a LB too. 3) Agree, and I'm sure it's on the list. 4) Don't you think that if Ric had been fit he'd have started? 5) I've seen one set of stats that showed we had 53% possession. I'd say the importance of the defence staying awake is the most important lesson to be learned from yesterday. The result was disappointing, but some perspective please: - We started without three of our best players. - Bolton opened the scoring with the fluke of the season (and their second had an element of good fortune about it), and we panicked for ten minutes after that. Hopefully, lessons learned there. It's a shame that there are fans who are going to let their anti-Pulis agenda spoil the season for them.

Agreed jarhead griffin is not a captain or a prem player end of!
Other than his long throw what does delap give the team?
Its early days but Tony has one or two problem areas including the left wing position because cresswell cant play there again.
But in tony we trust. He will sort it out like he has done before!!

Nothing thats it a throw, which only happens now and then so in the meantime he is a wasted space on the pitch offering no threat going forward and his passing is wayward at best.
I think we should move on from him just because he has a bloody throw!!!

Humiliation or no humiliation,we are not good enough at present and that is the bottom line. We desperately need two full backs,a left sided midfielder and a different option upfront imo or we are doomed as a few of the present team are simply not good enough at this level.

how many headers did we win off them throws yesterday? NONE! how many times did we look dangerous of them throws yesterday? NEVER! it worked in the championship but in the prem were pitting our wits against some of the best managers in the business. im afraid launching a throw aint good enough! delap out!!! (and cresswell)

How many defensive midfielders do you or Pulis want dexter seriously?
Delap offers nothing apart from a throw, not good enough for this league.

Yeah, let's not start pretending Bolton are anything special - before the game we were tipping ourselves to get a point - it's eye-opening to see just how much better their mediocre side were than us. As someone said, it's a wake up call - hopefully Pulis is in no doubt as to just how poor that defence and midfield was and will put it right.
The silver lining is that that was not our best side. Things got a lot better when Fuller and Lawrence were introduced. With them in the starting XI, plus the Fayes and Davies, we should look better.

the premiership is on a different planet to the championship Ok, oracle, so you explain who we need to sign to compete with the likes of even the mediocre sides such as Blackburn, Middlesbrough, Villa etc. And then explain to us how you would raise the money for us to do it in our first season up.

if we were playing an established top half team i wouldnt be moaning, but considering it was bolton, i am right to react like this IMO come on you potters, you can do it Bolton have been an established top half team for the past three seasons - only last year did they get into a relegation fight, but Megson has gone back to the basics that Big Sam used.
There are far worse home sides in the Prem than Bolton, and it was our FIRST game on the big stage
FFS give it a little bit of time

I wouldnt say they were ALOT better than us. We made 2 calamitus mistakes in defence that was the difference end of,until then there was nothing to choose between the 2 sides! They deserved the win dont get me wrong but we wernt that bad!

I agree that we have more than enough in that position, and a serious deficit in others. I'm simply trying to be fair to Delap by challenging the view that there's nothing more to his game than a throw.

They deserved the win dont get me wrong but we wernt that bad! I thought the gulf in class was worrying. We started brightly and then offered pretty much nothing after their goal. We simply weren't in it after that. As I say, the ray of hope is the improvement after Lawrence and Fuller came on and the players still to come in.

agreed potter, we werent that bad, we conceded a fluke goal then for some reason we dropped our heads, i know it was a kick in the bollocks but when that goal went in we should of been telling ourselves its a fluke goal we can still do this! instead we dropped as if it was game over, their were a lot more positives than negatives and im sure paddy power are going be eating their words when we ram it down their throats

It was bad but hardly embarrassing. If we don't learn from the lesson provided and mistakes made THEN it becomes embarrassing and a course for concern and complaint. On its own though this is just one game, albeit a very disappointing one. as daft as it sounds, it may actually do us a favour because any delusions (and there were plenty of them) about us not needing more new players, or that some we have are good enough for the Premier League, were blown away!
