The last 15 minutes of the 1st half, we seemed to implode. At times, it sounded like men against boys. However, there is a chink of light. We have not played well today. We have had a taste of what this league is all about. However, we seemed to improve when Liam and Ricci came on. We scored from open play to win the 2nd half 0-1. We didnt cave in. We have Faye to come in and hopefully, at the very least, 2 full backs and a left sided midfielder. Its the first game of our premier league adventure and we have had a short sharp shock. We must react in the right manner and not panic by this result. We should get behind the players next week and roar them on. Chin up lads, chin up.

Fact Bolton will finish very close to the relegation zone and at this moment we will finish well below them. Sorry no positives here atm.

We should look a lot tighter in the middle at the back when Faye starts & I think Ryan will be the one to make way. Sorensen is a good commanding keeper & I don't think he was at fault with any of the goals - all down to poor defending. We looked a lot better when Liam & Ric came on. We actually started passing the ball around. Ric took his goal very well. We can only get better.
Seem to pretty much agree with what you've said SGS.

No need to panic imo. I was devastated at HT but I was also encouraged by our 2nd half performance. With Fuller and Lawrence coming on and improving us when not even fit, and Faye to come in and shore us up at the back a little, it can only get better. Lets see if we can create a fortress at the Brit. Today may be a very very good lesson learned that we can take forward and utilise for the rest of the season.

positives are that we have had a rude awakening, we know we need some more players, instead of having a nice easy home game to a side with a shocking away record (such as fulham) , so there is no false hope flying around, now its a 37 game season and we start with a 3 point handicap .
West Brom were never going to get a point at the EMirates so they haven't come up against a yard stick for where they are really at yet

the team has improved from last season, we know what we need, notably 2 full backs and a left midfielder, tone must now see this, but lets not forget the team we started with on opening day last season,
the bridge we have to span now is much smaller than the one we spanned last season

To be brutally honest there is'nt really ant positives that i could take from that match, unless either one from Shawcross or Cort are replaced by a commanding centre back.

1) we weren't embarassed 2) we won the 2nd half 3) super Ricci Fuller scored a goal 4) we only lost it in 15 minutes of letting our heads drop 5) Tony seems to have sorted team talks 6) SURELY Pulis can now tell he can't play full backs out of position (!?) 7) I admit to not going but it sounded like the first 15 minutes we were hammering them when we were going forward.

We are above Portsmouth at the moment + Man City? They've also lost by 2 goals, but conceded 1 more than us. 2 other positives:- - looks as if we're signing Davies from The Saints and, by all accounts, he'll be a good acquisition. - yesterday's result might weed out some of the fly-by-night supporters we don't really want, i.e. those offering to sell their season tickets half price?
