Is it the club that runs the official website? It is still lacking updates and I noticed that under player profiles, none of our new members of the squad are even on there and it has not been updated since the end of last season.
What exactly is the difficulty in updating the web-site, we are now a Premier League team??!!

I've been wondering who actually runs the web site too. The lack of updates is embarrassing. In this day and age there really should be no excuse. My guess is that the admin side of things have taken a back seat with everyone focused on bringing in all the players we need

Andy,
I suspect that you are right. Can't quite believe that the season starts tomorrow, and can't believe even more that we will be on Match of the Day!!!

I'm already feeling the excitement My old man was over last weekend and he was so looking forward to seeing the team playing on MOTD too. He doesn't have Sky so hasn't seen them play for a long time (he's an exile like myself).

I was fortunate to move back to Staffordshire this year in time for the Premier League (not that I knew that was going to happen!!)
My Dad is in Canterbury and he has got his season ticket, long commute though!!
Where are you based?

Ripley in Derbyshire so only an hours drive away Been living abroad for a few years and then constant trips abroad with work meant little chance to get to see the lads play. Timing to be back in good old Blighty on a permanent basis couldn't have been better

Back to the original question. It is Premium TV (or whatever they now call themselves) who update the squad list for some strange reason. Obviously they are waiting until we have a settled squad - or they have forgotten - take your pick.
Quite why that area of the site cannot be updated by Stoke is a mystery but the previous webmaster (who has now left the club) used to moan about it a lot.

Did they replace the previous webmaster? If not maybe that could be the issue? TBH I'd have thought in this day and age the webmaster would not be responsible for updating the content; that would be the responsibility of the PR dept. The webmaster should really be responsible for the structure of the web site and providing the tools for updating the web site. When I was webmaster for the Derby CAMRA website that was how I worked it and that was on a non-existant budget.

Why don't the club listen to whatthe fines want??? An updated website would be most welcomed as we have not had one for years!!

Sorry typo. Why don't the club listen to what the fans want. An updated would be most welcomed by all, as we have not had one for years. Come on Stoke, were in the Premiership so whay don't we have a Premiership website?? Take a look at other Premiership clubs sites and they are up to date hourly!!

The guy I used to speak to a lot was Ian Bayley who was a decent bloke and got the chop in the night of the long knives a year or so back. He had plenty of good ideas for the site - most of which he was not allowed to implement.
A big problem is that the contract with Premium TV (or whatever it is called this year) means that the club has to have the Premium TV format and that the club can only add to and update certain parts of the site. Even so - a lot of the problems with the site content are NOT down to Premium TV.

True TB. Ian Bayley (who I mentioned above) was/is a reporter.

Well, could Premium TV employ someone to proof-read what goes on there? The number of spelling and punctuation errors are embarrassing. It's not an informal medium like a message board, it's an important part of the club's image. All it seems to say at the moment is that the people at Stoke City are illiterate.

I know that there are at least TWO people who's full time job it is to run the website. I also suspect they are paid very lowly.

I suggested several times that the club could use a fan as a proof reader if they were too tight to pay anyone - obviously this was when we were in the Championship. I even suggested myself if they couldn't find anyone better qualified. They didn't take up the suggestion. What amazes me is that they can't even be bothered to spell check the stories before they put them out.
I email the club with any major mistakes I spot - although the lack of interest (or thanks) at their end means I don't bother as much as I used to. Ian Bayley at least seemed to appreciate it - the present lot don't care.

We are all wasting our time, sadly. I happen to know a famous Stoke fan who owns a successful web design and tec company and offered its services to improve the site only a few days ago, they didn't even get a reply, not even a thanks but no thanks. Sums up our PR!
