That's what they get paid to do, try asking for a manager as soon as they answer next time.

don't just cancel your direct debit. A mate of mine did that and they kept billing, fucked up his credit rating, and spent years sorting it out (being chased by debt collectors).
Ring up again, and ask to speak to the duty manager/supervisor. When asked why say it was due to the a problem with customer services on your last call.
Write down the name of all employees you speak to, the date and time. Summarise each conversation in a couple of lines.
Keep it safe as a last resort. You should be all right second time around though.

Just agreeing with what s-in-ed said, they can be real bastards so cover your back all the way through, they make a good chunk of their money from people who try and get out of contracts. I hate credit scores but he's right about that too so take a deep breath and keeping calling till it's sorted the way you want.

No problem. By the way, what's your avatar, as I just get the following at work. ![](http://i2.bebo.com/035b/15/small/2007/10/21/13/4151657826a5881295301s.gif) Is it really unwork safe? Should I be disabling avatars at work to cover my backside? Oh, and also, if you have no success second time round, then write to them with all the details you have written down saying not acceptable etc. I did that with O2 (was getting cold called), asked to be taken off their list, but kept getting called, they gave me £10 in vouchers (to spend in an O2 store - but I could buy phone accessories).
