It's a bit run down so it's depressing in bad weather but the beach is great and there's a miniature steam railway across the river in Fairbourne if little un's into that. The other thing about Barmouth is it's Yam Yams on Sea...

I was working near Barmouth once. Woolies(?) had a copy of Victorialand by The Cocteau Twins for £1. I was well chuffed.

its a bit far for a day trip, couple of hundred miles at least to the south coast and its full of old people and retirement homes, they would'nt recognise your shirt anyway, better off going to somewhere else on the welsh coast.

Not much in Barmouth mate..but stay on the A496 to Harlech and go past Tal-Y-bont and then turn left for the Bennar camp-site..there's usually about ten thousand campers there and it's a right good laugh ;D
Last year we'd had a few beers..got back in the tents mid-night..surrounded by Mancs and Scousers..when all of a sudden..all you could hear in the distance was..WHY WHY WHY DELILAH!!...so naturally enough we went over and joined a big group of Stokies..and everybody on the campsite joined in...it was amazing..great stuff ;D

Barmouth is okay on arrival - until 30 minutes later when you realise you've done all there is to do.
