In my top 5 of all time favourite Stoke players. Even when he scored that hattrick against us for Bardiff he was class and didn't celebrate. Top Top Top bloke.

Put him in my Telegraph League 2 team this morning. Thank you very much Mr. Thorne Me too! I've got the whole bradford defence (almost) and Shane the sherriff from Shrewsbury as well, so I'm hoping to be top of the league on Monday... Now watch Bradford collapse like a pack of cards being farted on. ;D

Peter is a class act and one of my all time favourites!
I several years ago I met him and Clive Clarke at Manchester Airport. They were on their way to the Caribbean to meet up with Lightbulb. You could not meet two nicer guys.
Anyway, I had my wife with me who is a Huddersfield Town season ticket holder and at that point we were still in the same division. Before saying goodbye, I asked Peter no matter what, do not let Huddersfield beat us or I would never here the end of it. He smiled and said, sure no probs, I’ll make sure of it!
Well move forward a few months and we were down 1-0 at the Britt before old Peter popped up in the last few minutes to spoil the Huddersfield party and save my blushes. The trip back to Huddersfield with my wife’s family in the car would have been unbearable if not for old Pete fulfilling his promise.
He has been a legend in my eyes ever since!

I remember that game, absolutely nothing went for us until that goal. Nice to see he's still banging 'em in!

My defining moment was when he scored his third (i think) against us at home when playing for Cardiff and he looked apologetically to the North Stand and didn't celebrate.

In this week's Four Four Two Dion Dublin names Peter Thorne on the substitutes bench of his all time XI. He says that without injuries, he could have been a top Premier League striker.

Him, kavanagh(dont ask why?) and hoekstra were my idols as a kid watching stoke .. always remember him hitting the post against liverpool for some reason and me thinking we might have a chance... :S one of my favorite ever players .. was v sad to see him go Yeah I remember he rounded the keeper but stumbled, so wrapped his foot round it from a tight angle whilst on the floor. The ball just rolled up and struck the post then came out straight to the defender...if only it'd gone in you just never know what would have happenned i.e. if we hadn't lost 8-0 we probably wouldn't have lost 3-1 at home to a shite Luton side 3 days later and probably wouldn't have lost to Nuneaton 4 days after that as I think that 8-0 affected us throughout that little period, as did the absence of JOC, but thats what happens when you shag the gaffers sons missus. Those results may have cost us automatic promotion that season
