Palace by a mile. Reading to follow if they sell no more players. Charlton will finish bottom half, Blackpool and Doncaster will struggle, Swansea should be safe, Forest are dark horses, Derby in or around the play-offs, Watford will be lower mid-table, Burnley mid-table, Wolves play-offs, Bristol should be in the play-offs, QPR in the play-offs, Barnsley and Cardiff are in real trouble.

Whilst in Southampton today, I was in the local shop and the woman behind the counter said "oh it's the football season starting today, isn't it?" to which I replied "Dunno but the Premiership starts next week"

Think Brizzle will struggle tbh. Lost that surprise factor they had last season.
Birmingham to win, Derby or Wolves to follow. Play offs QPR, Sheffield Utd, Ipswich.

Can't wait watch the classic that is The Championship on Sunday, always means the footy season into full swing, although it'll be wierd not having to wait for Stoke though!!

It is becoming concerning, that even the campionship is becoming laden with good teams with money to spend. The gap between the prem and champ is closing I think

Saturday, 09 August 2008 The Coca-Cola Football League Championship Birmingham v Sheff Utd, 12:45 Blackpool v Bristol City, 15:00 Cardiff v Southampton, 15:00 Charlton v Swansea, 15:00 Coventry v Norwich, 15:00 Crystal Palace v Watford, 15:00 Derby v Doncaster, 15:00 Ipswich v Preston, 15:00 Plymouth v Wolverhampton, 15:00 QPR v Barnsley, 15:00 Sheff Wed v Burnley, 15:00 Is it just me or is there something rather vulgar and provincial about that list of games? ;D
Interestingly the Championship is now the 4th biggest league for attendances in Europe - it beat Italy's Serie A last year! The strength in depth of our football makes a better case for England's right to host the world cup than anything else I think. My local team in Essex often get 2000 crowds and they are only just up to conference south.

Well the beeb got that wrong about 4th biggest - that was in 2006-07, when Juventus were in Serie B.
Here are the averages for the major European Leagues last year:
Bundesliga: 39,426 Premier League: 36,076 La Liga: 29,124 Serie A: 23,180 France: 21,840 Holland: 18,732
2nd tier for the same countries:
Germany: 18,140 England: 17,022 Spain: 8,772! Italy: 6,026! France: 7,354 Holland: 3,211
Germany's sneaky 'cheap tickets and allowing standing up' policy is clearly working.
