I have been having a play with Brazil today and got the following replies:
Coggy has made a silly post there. I dont mind sticking up for your team and having faith but being blind to reality is setting yourself up for a hard fall.
Facts are, so far this transfer window Stoke have struggled. Pulis started off saying they wanted to wait for the right quality. He eventually admitted that you were struggling to make signings. That was only last week or so. What has changed now?
So far you have signed 3 players and failed with another. Kitson is a good signing but isnt a world beater, Olifinjana didnt set the championship alight and Sorenson was released by the Villa.
We have signed Scott Carson (ahead of Sorenson at the Villa), Zuiverloon - a dutch international defender and Cech from Porto (signed the season after they won the champions league) aswell as securing deals for Roman Bednar (nearly got 20 goals last season), Luke Moore (England U21 international striker) and Kim Do Heon, one of the most capped players in the South Korean side and still young(ish).
Considering you finished below us last season you should on paper have to improve even more than we do to stand a better chance of surviving. So far on paper, id say we have made the bigger signings really.
If Zigic comes, then id say your strikeforce would be good enough for the premeriship. Does not mean you wont go down though. Look at West ham's strikeforce when they went down - and that was in a weaker league (look at West Ham strikeforce when they nearly wernt down a few years ago).
After that, you cant say really who will make the better signings. We are close to making a deal for Meite from Bolton (first choice cb until he fell out with megson wasnt he?). We are also in talks with Charlton over their player of the year runner up Zheng Zhi and are also in talks with different clubs regarding centre halves, a Norweigan attacking midfielder and the Algerian striker who we are both being linked with.
I feel you will start the seasons as favourites for the drop, below both us and Hull (who have made some decent aquisitions and based on this summer could have a better chance than both of us). I think you need to be carefull not to get your hopes up too much. Coming so close to the new season with the side you have, will potential new players be scared off by the challenege?
Are you not at all concerned you have the worst defence in the league?
People say ours is bad but we've bought 2 full backs and a keeper, and are close to getting Meite. You've done nothing apart from buy Sorenson who apparently had a mare tonight, I'm not so sure he's an improvement on what you've got at the moment.
Will your midfield be able to supply your strikers? None of them really strike me as premiership class, Olofinjana is really inconsistent and Lawrence didn't do particularly well in his last venture into the premier league.
It's ok having decent strikers but the rest of your team is very, very poor by premiership standards at the moment. Even thats assuming you get Zigic, who, it should be mentioned is a huge risk for a club like you to effectively pin your hopes on him, I can't imagine you'll have too much of a budget left to improve the team if he signs.
