I thought the electronic advertising boards around the pitch had been confirmed - there was a piece on the official site not long after promotion....

Sorry to spoil the good feeling a bit, but i believe the track isn't going to be complete for the Villa game as the cherry pickers have got to put the advertising boards up yet on the inside of the ground and the track takes two weeks to completely set, so it won't be able to take the weight of the cherry pickers and will be done after the Villa game. The red and white crest boards are also going to be on he exits of the ground with "thanks for your continued support" on them. Nice little touch.

I thought the electronic advertising boards around the pitch had been confirmed - there was a piece on the official site not long after promotion.... The only statement I've seen is that we're having electronic advertising boards. I assumed we'd only be having them accross the stand that the TV cameras view (Upton Park's equivalent of the Seddon stand is the only area with electronic advertising boards. I always get annoyed watching Arsenal at the Emirates and that huge plane moves accross the screens, must be off-putting for players.

I'm not liking the new pitch pattern, I preferred standard verticle stripes. They looked great when they did the red/white striped crowd for the Newcastle game last season.

yeah the tunnel is to open onto the side of the pich instead of the corner like it has previously I'm not quite sure how this is going to happen. As in, where abouts is this entrance to the pitch going to be - the dugout sort of area or something? I keep envisioning this sort of Spanish underground type system or something ;D ???

What's the betting that Mama would fall up the stairs and Parkin would have a heart attack going up the stairs ;D Yeah, I went and had a look on Satrday, it's in great condition. Seems really firm ground as well considering the weather we've had recently.

Couple of things: I don't understand how the tunnel will come out in the JS ??? It won't come out from the JS - all they're doing is extending the plastic extendable bit from the corner so that it runs up the side of the JS and the players come out further up the pitch rather than right next to the away fans. Was confirmed by the club at the recent Fans' Forum meeting. I always get annoyed watching Arsenal at the Emirates and that huge plane moves accross the screens, must be off-putting for players. They're set up so you can't see them from pitch level. They just angle them towards the cameras so that it's only annoying for the spectators.

Ah, so the LEDs are angled? I don't think the panels as a whole are angled up.

I think the big widescreen/scoreboard is Plasma.
Advertising boards are LED

I think they will be OLED (organic light emitting diode). Then they are flexible and won't break when a football is hoofed into them.....
In 20 years time maybe.

I've only ever seen OLED screens go up to 20inches, think we're a decade off seeing huge ones

Ground Work Continues Posted on: Thu 07 Aug 2008
Two brand new club crests have been erected each side of the main entrance on the West Stand to replace the two old ones as work continued around the Britannia Stadium today.
The two new badges, which still require the paintwork to be completed around them, will change the face of the stadium for miles around as people travel through the city on the A500. The club's pre-season redevelopment has already seen the pitchside track ripped up, ready to be replaced with a new red one, while all areas of the stadium have been touched up with paint.
The plastic cladding around the stadium has also been replaced at the back of each stand, while brand new dugouts are set to be put in to place early next week.
A giant screen is also set to be placed into the corner between the South Stand and the Seddon Stand during the next month.

Can they now shift that big Sainsbury's box out of the way?
It has ruined the best view of the stadium - travelling north on the A500 from Hanchurch - since it was stuck there.

Nice to hear on Radio Stoke, P+G that the corner between Boothen End and Main Stand will have a wind protective screen across it. That will take a lot of the bleeding high winds off the pitch and the stands.
