Haven't they produced something called "Anti Matter" which, if it touches any Matter (including Air), then it has the destructive power equilivent of a 10 kiloton Nuclear bomb? (same as Hiroshima)
Scary stuff but incredible what can be created

It's a bloody fantastic machine. I wait with glee for the first results to be published, (probably 10 years from now...).
Don't worry about the anti matter thingy. Yes is is highly energetic, but you would need a fair bit of it (not just the odd particle) to do any damage.

I wonder how long it will be until The Grauniad reports it as "The Large Hardon Collider"

I watched the building of it the other night in "Mega Structures" on Nat Geo HD. A trully fantastic machine which has taken 15 yeard to build.

I thought that they weren't switching it on until October? I believe it was meant to come on last October. A slight technical hitch with one of the magnets.
