and i'm sure signings are imminent, the thing that concerns me is how are the new potential signings who we will hopefully bring in, expected to gel with the rest of the players, and get used to playing alongside them in the space of time, between whenever they sign and August 16th.
Last season was undoubtably a season of great achievement, but i couldn't help but think again, we were too slow pre-season and come the first game of the season, a few of the starting players had only been at the club for a matter of days.
Undoubtably team spirit and unity was a key attribute to our success's last season, and i hope the current signings and future additions will also be built around togetherness, which i'm sure Pulis is trying to install.
I'm just really hoping TP hasn't rekindled a similar situation to last pre-season in having set targets, failing to bring them in at first ( griffin, hendrie, diao etc..) and then not had a plan B to fall-back on, he was drawing up potential targets before last-season even finished, so he shouldn't really still be chasing players who he had targeted from that point, they should either have signed or have been scrapped, and i hope TP's curreny targets are fresh ideas not just former targets, he is still trying to persue.
We all know of TP's cautious transfer approach, and we all know it has it's frustrations, but we can't deny he rarely makes a bad signing, and he is always 100% a player can improve his current setup before signing him, and that mentality is the best way, quality before quantity, get your money's worth, and make sure the players you sign WILL do a job at this level.
That's where i think Hull will go down hill, there signings are mainly players who aren't proven at this level, George Boateng being the 1 player with bags of experience, and to be honest against Hearts who looked short of pace, and clearly not the player he was.
The likes of Mendy, and Halmosi are both BIG gambles, geovanni had a poor first season at Man City, and none of these are players who we can say have been there, done it, and proven themselves worthy at this level, whereas Sorensen and Kitson are proven at this level.
Let's be patient, let's let sides throw money on " maybe " players, and let's leave our trust in Tone, who i'm sure wont waste the finances on offer.
We are a few players short, full-backs need strengthening and some flair for the wide left of midfield, but talk on here of " doing a derby " is rubbish, i honestly believe even at this stage with our current squad severely lacking in quality and depth in certain areas, we wouldn't do a derby.
Points will be gold-dust to us, and providing we can make the Brit our fortress and pick up points at home, against sides around us, i think we can beat the drop, and i think we all know full well anything against the top 4 and probably spurs, everton, etc...is an unexpected bonus.
IN TONE WE TRUST.
