It does seem strange to be worried about a Pulis team's defence...but I am getting a bit twitchy. I know we have still some time left but the lack of rumour regarding defenders coming in is a concern. I think we can cope at Bolton...one of the lowest scorers last season and maybe away at Middlesboro. But Villa hit 71 last season!!! and it frightens me to think about the current back four lining up against...Torres Keane and gerrard...gulp! We had a poor defence last season and there are no improvements.....it remains a mystery why a defensive minded coach like TP seemingly hasn't put this as a top priority from the day we got promo.

I worry that Mr Pulis and his coaches won't be able to operate a system that enables us to have sufficient ball retention
I worry that we do not have any real pace in the side
I worry that we do not have sufficent variety in our play
I worry that out of loyalty Mr Pulis, laudable but misguided considering what is at stake, will continue to play some players who are not up to standard
BUT I am confident that Mr Pulis WILL deliver another centre back in the next 2 weeks.

Question: How will this defence cope?
Answer: It wont.
Our defence as has been said is nowhere near good enough to deny the Keanes,Torres, Rooneys etc of this league, and needs improving dramatically. We need a leader and someone who will influence the younger members of the squad.
Dicko will tackle hard, but all these people who think he will cut it at prem level are kidding themselves.
Wilko- I like what I have seen of him, he looks solid and calm on the ball, one for the future maybe. Had a good game against Newcastle.
Shawcross- Should make the step up, has a point to prove to Ferguson that he was good enough for the prem.
Cort- Dont think he will cut it to be honest
Griffin- Found out at prem level with derby, but a solid player for newcastle and pompey in seasons before- undecided
Delap- Established and will make the return easily to the prem and will do a job where ever he plays.
Pugh- Only good enough for Centre Mid as a squad player
