cost of living - fookin steep, hope you are being paid in hard currency mate, cos the dizza is worth fack all... i havent lived in england for ages, but, id say you are looking at between a 20-30% hike in the cost of living, being tax free dunna make much difference these days do we have sky - no.. too far out of the zone.. we have the joys of showtime tho... has reasonably good coverage of the nogger, but i aint holding my breath to see stoke on there if there are other options on supporters branch - yeah.. me!... , tbh mate, in ten years ive run into one other stokie that lived here Stoke related - im good thanks mate... all set.. thanks for the offer tho ---- if youu play it right mate, you'll have a good six months. its fookin hot at the moment, hottest summer we've had for 10 years or so (50c today) but in a couple of months it will be back down to a more managable 35ish and we'll be outside again... september will be a bit of a mare as its ramadam... im away for the month, does my head in, but then come october, all the good stuff starts up again.. if i was going to give you one piece of advice its this... you can go mental on the piss every night of the week here, and think you are in some kind of dream world... fit birds everywhere, bars, restaurants and clubs that blow your mind.. but... its all plastic, fake etc... this is a hard town and it chews people up, bad... so stay grounded, stay in touch with who you are now, and remember where you are - ive seen aload of people get royally fucked over - dont let it happen to you stick with that and you'll have a great time

i bank with hsbc.. they are a pile of WANK.. i hear good things about Lloyds tho
You can get a bank account in sterling over here, but why would you want to?.. if you are getting paid in dizza, get a dizza bank account, otherwise you'll just get stung with charges
whether you can get a bank account is open to question actually.. will you have a residency visa?.... if not you might struggle.
also.. you will need to get a UAE driving licence... your pommie one wont mean shit over here
also.. have aload of passport photos done (about 20) and get a shit load of photo copies done of your passport
mate, i really want you to prepare for things like getting a bank account, driving licence, etc being a total ballache... its not like england where you rock up and its all cushty.. you are coming to what is basically a nice part of india. The buracracy wil drive you up the wall, but you just have to grin and bear it... you can waste days doing this kind of shit

tbh mate... id do this
get paid in cash, and Western Union it back to your home bank account... then use your UK cash card to withdraw
you wont need to bring cash.. just take it out of an ATM
