Blackpool tickets put on hold Posted on: Mon 17 Dec 2007 Remaining tickets for this weekend's trip to Blackpool in the Coca-Cola Championship have been temporarily suspended.
Blackpool has requested tickets be put on hold after problems occurred in the visiting supporters stand at their match against Stoke City on Saturday have left it needing repair.
Due to these safety concerns, the Seasiders are currently unsure how many supporters it will be safe to sell tickets to

Maybe the supports of the stand have buckled due to there being nearly 2000 chip eaters crammed in there.

Visitors' stand in safety alert
Bloomfield Road's temporary East Stand
BLACKPOOL were today anxiously waiting to hear if the East stand gets a clean bill of health after Stoke fans' celebrations damaged a section of flooring. The Seasiders have suspended ticket sales to Coventry supporters pending a full structural survey of the stand, by the local authority and the police.
Coventry fans have snapped up almost 900 tickets for the weekend clash but won't be able to purchase any more until the all clear is given by safety officers.
The incident occurred when Leon Cort headed Stoke in front during the first half of Saturday's clash.
The pressure of almost 2,000 celebrating visiting supporters created a small hole in the floor.
There was a similar incident shortly after the temporary stand opened in 2004, which caused a safety alert.
The stand on the east side of the ground was erected to accommodate away supporters on a temporary basis while the south stand was demolished and rebuilt. It is the type used to house spectators at golf tournaments.
A spokesman for Pool said: "We can confirm that sales of tickets to Coventry fans have been temporarily suspended pending a full structural survey.
"We are hoping that it will be given the OK in the next 24 hours."

Best stop dodging those Salads boyos, isn't it.
You can just see the Stoke-hating Sentinel hacks sharpening their tools - "Fat Bastard Stoke Fans wreak havoc on innocent Seaside town*"
* allegedly.

Dixie:
Meanwhile, an investigation is underway into the safety of the temporary seating that accommodated nearly 1,900 Stoke fans at Blackpool last Saturday.
Blackpool have been forced to suspend the sale of tickets for their next home match, against Coventry City, until the completion of a structural survey.
The investigation follows the appearance of a hole in the stand while Stoke fans were celebrating their club's second goal in the 3-2 win at Bloomfield Road.
Stoke fan and Sentinel columnist James Knowles was sat near the hole. He said: "I would guess the hole in the floor panelling was two foot by one foot and some 10 feet above the ground. A steward stood over it throughout the second half

At least they can't blame this one on Bossie. If he'd have been in there, it would have been much more than a small hole. OS.
