thanks for that mate! i managed to find the file which was causing the pop ups in my add/remove programs on contoll panel, it turns out it was something to do with me downloading msn+! so i dont recomend downloading msn+ stick to the old version. and touch wood no cid pop ups as yet

You have probably installed a spyware protection program that is really spyware. Try spybot it's free and bug doctor.
They should clean it up.
If not then there are others but make sure they aren,t just front ends fotr other spyware programs.

Firefox is awesome. Much faster and less intrusive than explorer.

Stokeined - pretty much exactly my set up Between CC and Spybot you should be fine - just run them every couple of weeks ...and if you are downloading stuff you wouldn't want to be found, when it deletes you can choose up to NSA deletion level

plus with firefox you can install addons such as No Script (stops annoying java type stuff if you don't want them - often a hackers back door) or Add block plus etc. etc.

also grab spyware blaster it'll add an oodle of blocked sites to your "hosts" file - basically internet privilages which'll stop a lot of the activeX and other "driveby" nastys getting onto your system: www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
