Out of interest which one of these 2 would you prefer.
Higgy for me by a country mile.
Better leader and when your spending millions you dont want a injury prone type.

Gardner.
Higgy shown up far too many times last season for his lack of pace. A bit like Griffin when he was at Derby, oh dear.

Higgy, simply because i know what he's like. Whereas with Gardner, he's an unknown to me, just a big black lad.

Still no official announcement from Hull re Gardner. I wonder if we've gone back in for him at the 11th hour, as the Sentinel were speculating. Can't say it'd thrill me if we had. I'd much prefer Higginbotham, if it's an either/or.

Higgy for me everytime. Gardner (due to injuries and suspensions) has the experience of a player much younger. I want a leader alongside Ryan to continue his devlopment. Higgy ticks the boxes for me, left hooker, good in the air, good on the ball and a natural leader.

It's a little like asking whether you rather be stabbed or shot to death really.
if I was pushed a say Gardner, simply because we saw last season that Higgy simply wasn't up to the job at Sunderland.
I've not really seen Gardner for a few years and given an unlikely injury free run I think he's the better of the two.

Higgy. Cool head, and a good reader of the game. Not knocking Gardner, haven't seen him at al,l Like Taggart, a recent legend if ever there was one, though, Higgy lets his head save his legs.

I am at a loss to understand most of the above how anyone can fail to see we need two CB's minimum amazes me. (as well as all the other signings).
imho we need BOTH of these players,Higgy over Ant but both are needed
if Ryan & Leon are injured/suspended your looking at a CB pairing of Buxton & Matteo or Shotton
are we really going to sign even 1 CB better than either of these two (Higgy & Gardner)

Higginbotham was twisted and turned time and again in the Premiership last season. I thought Sunderland were stupid to pay £3.5m for him then, and thought it was a smashing bit of business from our point of view - and given that they would be looking for virtually the same fee to sell him, it will be a bad move for us.
Gardner, because he's more of an unknown.

higgy at £1.5m id say yeah...at £3.5 no way. I didnt like the way he messed us about before he left tho either

He's a Championship defender, for a Championship team. If we sign him for £3.5m or £3.50 the signal of intent will be there - playing for the season after.

Both would be nice, it's hard to say really, I don't know enough about Gardner to be honest?
Higgy would be dependable but Gardner is a strong lad with pace but prone to howlers...
Looks like Spinks was right about Gardner waiting to hear about the Higgy move before signing for Dull if he had his medical today and there is no news....
