Away from transfer talk and everything else at the minute, I’ve been thinking about our home and how my perception has changed in the last couple of years. When we first moved in I like many people was looking forward to the new ground to take us into a new era. However we all know what happened in relegation and the new stadium for a long while has been lifeless. The logistics are still a nightmare; half time getting a beer is a joke, getting away from the ground is like going through central London in rush hour. But thinking about it the other day, the last 11 years have as yet provided us with a lot of happy memories. So I thought I would share my top 5 and see how it differs to everyone else’s. 5 –Dadasons winner against Barnsley to set up a lucrative tie against Liverpool (although that was a nightmare) 4 – Man U – It may well have been a friendly but what a game and always nice to get one over on the shit. 3- Reading last game of the season, Massive game and up stepped Ade great goal in a big match. That could have really fucked us up if we had gone down that year. 2- WBA at home this season, I know there’s been more important but I really think this game gave us the belief that this could be a very special season. 1-Leicester City promotion – Shit game by all accounts but who cares. The atmosphere was electric and a benchmark for the games next year. A day that will be talked about for years to come. I love the Brit now and glad we are there Thoughts??

Iwelumo's diving header vs Millwall and the playoff semi-final against Gillingham are two that stick out in my memory along with the game vs Colchester in 2007.

The logistics are still a nightmare; half time getting a beer is a joke, I think fighting your way to the bar at half time is all part of the fun of a matchday. It's like getting your feet stuck to Harry's bar floor, eating a dirty burger outside the ground, or holding on for dear life whilst standing on the bus on the way home. Going the match wouldn't be the same without it

I still remember a night in the 01/02 promotion season against Brighton, 72 cup winners came on before the game and generated a brilliant atmosphere. I can mainly remember Clarkey's goal, a one two before smacking it in the top corner... brilliant

We needed some good memories of The Brit to help is feel like home. For ages it was only associated with crapness.

Still doesn't feel quite right to me unfortunately. I think I still miss parking in the centre of Stoke and being able to have a few beers in the vic before popping across the road at 2.55pm.

My memory of last season...............
boo-ed off at half time................
and roared back on at the start of the second half ...........
that led to "that" turn around in the "2 for 1 week"
and the Leicester match even though it was a crap game.

my top 5 memories at the VIC
1, zicos overhead kick in 7-2 win over leeds
2,leaving the ground 0-2 down against wolves with 2 minutes to go, turning on the radio and it finished 2-2
3,steins late winning goal against the fail
4,SIR STAN and robbie williams coming on at half time and robbie getting jeered off ( apparently he was found crying in the dressing room)
5, my favourite player from that era was liam brady but i was never allowed to go to evening matches ( too young) but because arsenal and brady were playing one tuesday night was allowed to go, brady got sent off in the first minute.

I agree. I think it's OK to boo players off at half time. It shows them just how much they are letting us down. Just as long as they're cheered back on for the second half. It seemed to work a few games last season

Just for the sheer awesomeness (yeh, its a word!! ) of the atmosphere the semi final playoff against Gillingham stands out for me and the three goals in about 15 minutes against Baardiff what a night!!!!

I'm hoping this season will turn the Brit into home for me. Its taken 10 years just to get me into the place but this coming season I'll be there hoping that it will live upto the Vic

Agree with nickstoke, to me the Brit will not be home like the Vic. However that is probably an age thing, mixed with emotional experiences. There has yet to be the emotion of the games at the Vic, and yes I am now officially an Old Bugger!!
Let's hope the next few seasons help to change that view. (However that would need to include European nights, Testimonials like Sir Stans and the odd victory over Man Ure)
