Personally, I think it is time for Michael Vaughan to step down as England cricket captain
Its all well and good captaining the side, but if you are in the most prominent position in the order (No. 3), then you must be in the side to score runs
Vaughan no longer scores runs, but relies heavily on his outstanding success in Australia which is in the distant past now
Add to that the possibility of recurring knee trouble and fitness doubts, surely its time to blood someone NOW.
And his interviews and really getting on my tits
We must bowl well and put them under pressure We must bat well and put them under pressure
You never hear its about time I got my finger out and scored some fuckin runs

I'd move broad up the order. Maybe bell could go 3?

I'd move broad up the order. Maybe bell could go 3? Broad has five fifties in his last six innings, and theyre calling for him to go because his bowling is not penetrative enough ???
Vaughan has to be moved down to six IMO if he is staying put. He is very suspect to the new ball if we lose an early wicket, as he no longer plays straight all the time.

I wouldn't bowl Broad I'd keep him as a batter.
He has a better opportunity with the bat then.
Like Flintoff said it affects your batting bowling.

Rhodesy, you cant keep Broad in just as a batsman. The entire point of him being there is because he can do a job both with the bat and ball, if you take his bowling away you may aswell recall Colly or get someone like Rob Key in

Colly can't bat. An Broad is a better batsmen than Key!!
And Colly bowls aswell you know!!
I meant to use Broad less not to fully eradicate his bowling.

Broad isnt a better batsman than Key at all, hes having a great knock at the moment, but when he starts getting low scores (which he inevitably will) lets see how many people will be calling for his head.

I don't agree with moving Broad up the order as it will put more pressure on his batting - he is in the side as a bowler but is struggling a wee bit at the moment. He should bat at 8 and if he scores runs it is a bonus, he needs to work on his bowling, I wouldn't be surprised to see him dropped soon in favour of someone like Simon Jones

Strauss for Captain and Shah in for Vaughan.

Here is a radical idea - pick the 5 best batsmen, four bowlers, a wicket keeper and an all rounder. This means both Vaughan and Collingwood would need to prove themselves with several good knocks in four day (not one day) county games before getting back in the team. Strauss, Cook, Petersen, Bell, Key/Shah, Flintoff, Prior, Broad, Sidebottom/Jones, Anderson, Panesar should do the trick with Strauss as Captain. Broad is a bonus as his batting has almost eclipsed his bowling. We should stick with him, even if his form with the bat dips a bit.

Strauss as interim captain for 2-3 years to let Cook get more experience, then Cook after Strauss.

Good call on Strauss then Cook.
Gerrard might take the all rounder spot! I gather Phil Neville was an exceptional cricketer as a youngster. Shame the money can't compete with football.
