North Wales next week, Mid Wales in September, Anner booked for next year as we're saving our dosh to buy a caravan so we can go where we want when we want, And also to hold up as much traffic as is possible. The only thing i can tell you weather wise for September is it will be light in the morning and dark at night

Did Leek to Penzance in 5 hours at Christmas (no caravan) set off at 3am and was on the beach by St Mick's mount at 8am, Never went over 95 on the motorway and there was hardly any traffic, Stick another 5 hours on that with a van in tow.

We're off to Bill's mother's too (Cornwall), getting set for the overnight drive Friday/Saturday. But it's worth it to drive over the Tamar Bridge at dawn

as a child i spent many a happy hol on scotlands west coast with my parents and other family.i returned to this area a couple of years back with my wife and kids. sadly this area is not as special to my kids as it was for me.i used to love it here, the fishing, walking, sightseeing etc.but to them, brought up on foreign hols and sunshine,it was "boring" .
boring? this was a part of my childhood guys, embrace it with me.but no.i was a little sad that they didnt take to this area like i did.but even sadder cause it also brought memories of my parents back, who loved this area as much as me.
we also visited a village named "arrochar"(think its spelt like this) at the top of loch long.the pier where we used to hire fishing boats from, was there no more.all that was left were stumps in the water.that was sad to see.
god, i'm filling up!!

HiyaDad-the problem with (alot of) kids today is that they have no imagination. The best holidays we had as kids were to places with little to do but lots to see and places to discover.Kids now want everything done for them, laid out on a plate. Unfortunately this is now the age of we'll think for you.

cant argue with you at all there.we live in an age when the most imortant things to kids nowerdays is whats the release date of the next ps3 game.
i use to love going exploring with me mates.maybe as parents we dont allow kids to do this as much today because of the dangers out there.
another thing is kids expect to go abroard for holidays more now. it seems like they have to be entertained more now than i was as a kid.like i said, we went west scotland lots of times when i was i was younger.fishing was always the high light of my hols.nowerdays, the highlight of our kids hols are water world sort of places or alton towers kind of day trips.and its a lot more expensive than a fishing trip!
