Have I missed something here but wasn't Matteo release by us at the end of the season and yet he was the captain in the first half tonight?
This was in the Sentinel on 5th July -
>>>Former Stoke City midfielder Dominic Matteo is still hoping to win a contract with the Potters. He has thanked Tony Pulis for allowing him to link up with the club for pre-season training, but stresses the manager has made him no promises about a contract.<<<

Thought he looked quite sharp tonight, could be worth an 18 month contract just for his experience and is good with the younger guys in the squad too.

would like to see him brought in on a similar role like taggart was towards the end of his contract as i feel he will make an excellant coach and seemed to be a good influence on the dressing room last year

12 month contract as player coach, then leave him to the coaching! ;D
Would be excellent behind the scenes and a good squad player should injuries and suspensions strike.
