Well after all the euphoria of going up you're seeing what it's like to be a promoted Premiership side and bottom of the food chain for quality players.
We had the same in 02/03. A player even retired rather than play for us.
Hull are ok signing players because they're throwing money around like it's going out of fashion but they're leaving themselves open to financial disaster if they go down.
It will be frustrating for you at times but this is the Premiership. Fuckin marvellous ain't it

Its certainly is frustrating! Not sure my nerves will last until the season kicks off! I have to say I'm watching Hull with interest to see how their approach works out. Personally I currently prefer our approach but time will.
Congrats on Carson, would have loved him at Stoke but c'est la vie. Hopefully we'll get Fulop and he'll prove himself.

Reassuring reading that. Was beginning to think all Stokies were the sort to throw their dummy out when it doesn't go their way but every club has their eejits. I can't see you spending big and taking risks which is pretty much what we did in our first Prem season. Signing players like Kitson will not keep you up IMO but if you don't stay up you'll be in a great position to go back up again. No point bankrupting yourself; gradual progression should be the order of the day. I also don't feel TP is the man to establish you lot in the Prem. The style of football you play will also do you no favours IMO as Premiership defences will not be lose out to Mama or Fuller many times. Ours might, mind you. ;D

The style we play has to change. Last seasons methods will be easily absorbed in the Premier. The main thing we need is variation.
To be honest both of us will be battling from day one.

Great to find a Baggie who you can have a proper discussion with rather than the bunch of illiterate 11 year olds that have been rather prevalent recently!!

The style we play has to change. Agreed and Tony has already admitted this - on the 5 live interview I think. He'll play whatever style matches the players we end up with.

We will stay up - 15th final position For that to happen there has to be some quality added to your side IMO. And you'll need more than your annual 6 points off us to stay up aswell. ;D

But wouldn't he be better going for the kind of players we need?

But wouldn't he be better going for the kind of players we need? You need strengthening in all areas of the pitch as do all promoted teams. We've nearly completely done this with just an experienced centre half needed to complete the jigsaw for us, I feel. One thing that is absolutely vital in this league, though, is pace in both defence and attack, especially as you'll be getting most of your attacks through counter-attacks if we're honest. Fuller, I reckon, could maybe do a job in the Prem but he didn't do too well with Pompey when he was there in the Prem. Mama is about as much a Premiership striker as I am but would maybe be useful to bring off the bench for 15/20 mins at the end of a game to have a go at and challenge with the tired defenders.

Pace is undoubtedly a major requirement. Thing is of the players we have a few have tried at Premier level and failed. Just hope the system we have....combined with some new players.... is enough to get us over the line

Ofcourse it is highly likely that all three of us will go down, depsite the money that Hull are throwing round. You only have to look at how much Wigan, Fulham, Bolton etc. - the poorer Premiership clubs - are spending on players compared to ourselves and you can see how difficult it is to establish yourselves in this league.
