It is now, and has always been since Pulis joined us. He's never able to close signings early in pre season, which means he never get is main targets. When does he learn??
With the money talked about, both signing fees and wages, there's just one way, go foreign.
If we're not able to close 7 or 8 good signings before the new season starts, we'll be like was Derby last season I'm afraid.

Get a grip man.
If we're not able to close 8 or 9 deals by the start of the season, we'll do a Derby? Eh, by now Derby had clinched around that amount of players - who weren't good enough.
TP has always set his sights high, and fair play. He'll get the right deals, and what we need to stay up - even if it is frustrating.

The first "new" signing I think will be Matteo who he will re-sign.
I think it's really depressing that he can't get any players. Mostly I think Pulis is to blame, because this is the same year after year. Still I wonder about what strategy Coates gas when it comes to wages. Both PC and TP has been around long enough to know what kind of money that's needed to tie up deals with good players. If he can't get his targets because of money, then he should be aiming elsewhere. Every year it's the same, as they claim they can't pay the wages of any palyers they want.
Come on wake up, why is it always more difficult for Stoke than everyone else??? Time is definately not on our side now.

I am really beginning to worry too. hull and wba have made a few signings and if i was a bookie, i would have us head and shoulders above the rest of the league for favourites for relegation at this moment in time. in order to stay up we HAVE to improve our team and squad. we cannot cope with the prem with our squad as thin as this, and with a first team so poor. i don't understand why we always seem to take forever over every signing.

the only player that has joined up with the squad needs a work permit, and we know the problems we have there. the one time we needed a teanm to have a good pre season and we have nobody added. the sooner we realise as a club that we have to spend to strengthen the better,it is an unfortunate fact of premier life. it is all very well having a pop at the likes of hull, but they have players in and able to play,we have not. the grip we need to get is that there are 30 days left til kick off and we are no better than the team that finished last season, confident?

just cos other teams are signin players doesn't necessarily mean that theyll finish higher than us! id rather have 11 players who want to work as a team and know what they are doing out there than a bunch of players who dont work together, hopefully pulis can bring the right players in over time and just pay over the top money for the first person he sees.

i was not suggesting they would finish higher but the fact remains they are strengthening therefore they give themselves a chance. we say give him time, well how long does he need, we are 30 days away from kick off,and we are going to end up with players who cannot find a club and see us as a last resort if we are not careful.

The transfer window is to blame imo. Clubs hold out until the last minute so that the club receiving the transfer money have little or no chance of spending to strengthen their squad. Once clubs agree on transfer then players agents demand outrageous terms for their clients knowing that as the transfer deadline looms some clubs will bow to the pressure to strengthen the squad. Therefore most of summer tranfers take place last week of August. Presumably Stoke have a wages structure and if Carson does not want to fit into that structure then Pulis is right to fook him off.

So let me get this right - you're calling us a joke and worried about us performing similar but you want to us to act in the transfer market exactly how they did by signing players unproven at this level. Leicester another example of a team that signed quantity not quality. If you think bringing in a near new team of foreign players is the answer then i take it you like championship football. Hull are falling into that trap imho

Hull are falling into that trap imho I'm not thinking a whole team of new foreigners will be the way forward, but half of of the 7 to 8 players must be foreign if we only expect to use the money it seem we're willing to use. I don't belive in quantity before quality, but a season in the Premiership has a higher demand for both than in the Championship. Last seasons team wouldn't have been good enough with a couple of serious injuries to key players. We saw some of the trouble when we had suspensions on Fuller and Lawrence. To stay up next season we probably need 20 quality players, something we won't have, even with 7 or 8 new players as I hope we will get.

Must admit that the summers with TP in charge must have been the most frustrating ones. A lot of talk of players, nothing happens.

IMO we need 1 proven premiership player in each position ( DEFENCE, MIDFEILD AND CENTER FORWARD) but maybe not the goalkeeper, id be quite happy with simmo and nash in that position for us.
We need an expereinced quality center back, midfeilder and forward i.e Gardener or Riggot, Stelios/?, kitson or harewood then make up the rest with better championship players before they are all snapped up i.e, scott sinclair, joe ledly, adi moses, cameron jerome to make up the numberS..
And as much as people dont like them I think that Kris commons and john halls would of been very good squad players.

I must admit they are leaving it a little late to bring in players.
At this rate they will be putting the new players names on the shirts in the dugout before their first game.
It's all become a long term stale joke for Stokies I'm afraid.
Same old same old every season.

Pulis doesn't need to learn anything, he got stoke up to the prem when everyone else said it wasn't possible! If he doesn't need to learn anything why does he appear to keep making the same mistakes??? We all need to learn new stuff all the time. TP is in a completely new position that he has no experience of at all and you suggest he has nothing to learn.
