Hmmm let me think . . . an internet cafe in downtown Pokhara Nepal ... midnight in an MRT station shop in Singapore . . . downtown Pakse in Laos . .. . downtown Ho Chi Minh city . . . in a guest house in Durban in South Africa . .. . Hotel room Bangkok . . or plain and simple at my house in the middle of nowhere via a wireless internet link in Vientiane. Although not strictly listening to the game but I remember connecting to the Internet via my mobile phone sitting in my pickup at our land before the house was built only had battery power and had to be in a certain location to get the Thai mobile service. Take your pick

Mine is probably whilst doing an experiment here in Grenoble in a nuclear reactor. No headphones, and the background noise in the reactor hall is very high, so had the volume turned right up on my laptop. Very funny looks from the French technicians.

Out of interest, why has the title changed from match to mat?
Is there a subject character limit in replies to the original post?

One day, I will listen from the moon. Then I will win.
More likely is if I can listen from the top of an Alp. Only if it is on a longwave transmission on BBC world service though.

South atlantic ocean west of the falkand isles in between the FI and argentina in a force 12, that chelsea - stoke match which eneded our 10 game losing streak ;D Every time we went between the waves we lost the world service signal.

I remember watching Arsenal Vs Stoke in the FA Cup 2005 at my then local, the Cricket Club Cafe in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Needless to say I was the only person watching the football but because I knew the bar staff so well they used to nearly always switch one of the TV sets over to the channel I wanted ;-) Needless to say there were no Arsenal supporters about It was the only match I got to see in just over 2 years living out there

Halfway up the mainmast, HMS Arrow, Falkland islands exclusion zone Nice one Mine was also down the falklands on the flight deck listening to the world service trying desperately to get the score from the Stoke v Vale game. Cant remember what year but it was at the vic and it ended 0-0. We hadn't played them for a long time so was gutted to miss it.

Lobby of luxor hotel las vegas- only place could get world service on my radio-gold coast in africa, changi in singapore, siam reap in cambodia and a fair few more. Oddest had to be in my car in warrington-why so odd? My sister was getting married and sneaked out of the church to hear us play. Were at preston_ tried to get to the game but the car park staff had been pre-warned :-) we won 4-3 as well, never forgave her

At Wembley Arena while watching The Beautiful South the night we lost to the Vale in the FA Cup. I had the earpiece shoved so hard into my ear I was in pain for a week.

I can offer two: 1. In a bombed out terminal building in Kabul the day after the Northern Alliance kicked the Taliban out of the City. We had to clear unexploded bombs, and the human detritus of war out of the building the night before. Reception via the MOD satellite link. Hearing our Nige after all of that was completely bizarre but very, very welcome! 2. Under rocket (mortar) attack in Basrah at the Airbase. I did that on 5 Saturday afternoons from Feb-Jul last year! Great thing was once the attack was over it took 30 mins to get the 'all clear' to move. That made sure I heard at least the most of one half! After 20 mins of one match I listened to, we got attacked, and one rocket landed about 100M from where I was sheltering. Once we got the all clear to move I helped to extinguish a fire (actually a Land Rover that had beeen blown up) and then went back to my original listening location to hear the whistle blow for the start of the second half! Brain mudddling stuff! I'll be in Khandahar (Afghanistan) from this Aug to Feb next year. Again commentary on a Saturday will be a goer and (get in!) I'll be able to watch SSVC's Match of the Day repeat every Sunday!

On the hard shoulder of the M25, I was driving back from hospital, listening to the Stoke V vale game that virtually sealed promotion, I got that nervous I couldn;t drive & pulled over, Delilah was bouncing around the car
