Big meeting for all building society staff at Warrington Wolves ground many to go. My misses works on the estates and lettings side, everybody already on 60 days notice with 50% to go. Going to be plenty more to come soon, JCB, Cheshire, conveyancing, solicitors, a lot of estate agents (we would all like to smile but it's not nice) already hit.

My mrs works for HBOS - the letters have gone out from the Unions there to hint at the axe swinging at some point soon as well. Fooking marvellous. We're a family where both of us have to work - neither of us are bothered about "careers".

Personally, the commercial market in Stoke-on-Trent is still pretty bouyant and we (my company) are more than on budget for this financial year.
Yields have shifted out which will have a negative effect on capital values and rate relief abolishment will have a negative impact on rental levels but landlords aren't panicking just yet. Well, maybe St Modwens are a tad.

Northwich - how did your missus get on? My wife's boss pulled her to one side and dropped a large hint she wil be one of the 8 out of 24 to go today. She's not sure she wants to go through the farce of "re-applying" and may bite the bullet and plunge into the job market. (in a recession - f***ing marvellous). Kind of nullifies things like transfer speculation and the start of the Premiership. So.... [glow=red,2,300]T SHIIIIRTS!!! GET YER T SHIIIIRTS!! [/glow](Wife and 2 kids to support now...)

I'm currently on holiday from JCB and have just had the quarterly newspaper (Talkback) and it says thing will be tough for the next 18 months and to expect more job losses.
