I sent an email to rivals to show my annoience of the rivals network and the demise of my beloved Oatcake message board last night. ( sorry smudge, this is a great board but I do miss the banter with other clubs) I have just got a reply, very standard, but they are doing something.
Hi
Thank you for your mail. We have relaunch our new site and with every new endevour there arehurdles to overcome. The site at the moment is in its most basic form sokeep checking the site as we continue to fix any and all bugs and makesome exciting developments.
Kind regards
Trevor Trevor Kramer Editor Rivals.net

Phew, what a relief! Until I read that I thought Rivals had cocked things up. Now I know they are in control I feel happier. ;D

I wouldn't bother...he's in South Africa and probably doesn't have a clue what's going on!

Haven't spoken to anyone recently because I don't want to keep going on at them!
I was told the adverts were getting removed, though, and I see they have now gone so I reckon it will end up being alright eventually if they do everything else they're planning on.
It was stupid to launch the board when it wasn't ready but the old one did need a re-design to be fair.

Two words...double posts!! ;D
Seriously though, it was massively out of date compared to most boards and they'd been promising to update it for about 2 years!

Agreed LS, but updating to an untried, untested unsuitable system cannot be considered a step forward.

This bloke and or his colleagues are incompetent.
You do not launch a product 'in its most basic form' in the first place. You certainly don't keep it out there in the public eye while you 'continue to fix any and all bugs'.
You don't launch it at all without putting it through some user tests. Before that you shouldn't build it until you have put your prototypes through some uability exercises. And you cannot really get to that point until you have researched the user base to work out a valid feature set, a good view of the key user types and an understanding of hierarchy of functions and information.
Rivals latest site has been meticulously bungled by this clown and his colleagues. They should be sacked for even defending it and then it should be removed until someone has done it properly.
Arrogant idiots.

I think Rivals have lost the plot with that site, its not user friendly at all, when you are on the Stoke forum and click home thinking you are going to the Stoke home of the site but it takes you to the main football home.
Also, when you post a message without signing in, you get a page where you can enter your username and password, but right underneath is the forgot password button and not the submit button which is down to the right hand side.
The site to me looks like it has been developed by a coder who has no idea about the design.
Its still v v v poor and could be the death of the Oatcake site unless they sort it out big time, lets face it, not many are posting on there at the moment.

Who cares?
Here is much better. Look, you can do this...
What more could you want from a message board?

Smudge may have cared before...but after seeing the wizardry that is "cuntycuntycuntycunt" moving across the page from right to left, I think you'll find that he may be persuaded to stay here.

There are loads of features that need to be added to bring it up to this sites standard, nevermind taking it forward.
