While we all get caught up in transfer gossip, spare a thought for Luton Town. Having suffered a points deduction last season and then relegation, they seem to have had TWO further points deductions this season, with the result that they start the season at the bottom of the football league - on MINUS 30 points!!
This surely condemns them to relegation to the Conference before a ball has been kicked. It will affect their ability to bring in new players, and a host of other commercial activities. The club's current owners were not responsible for the previous financial mismanagement, and the people this hurts most are the real, proper, loyal supporters who put their hands in their pockets every week.
Top Premier League clubs and players argue in Millions about fees and salaries. A lot of people bleat about the inequalities in the game. Real football supporters everywhere should be concerned about this decision, and offer their support to Luton Town.
If there is a role for the likes of TalkSport, surely it is to draw attention to issues like this and question whether it is right and in the interest of football in this country.
Probably nothing will happen though, and who knows, maybe Luton Town will go out of business and cease to exist.

its even worse than that as the Conference are unlikely to accept them. if they dont get the (75ish) points they need to stay up then its route 1 to oblivion AFC Luton time in Bedfoshire lg div 9 or something.
HOWEVER LTFC has been rotten to the core for decades now,its the THIRD time they have gone into administration this century.
sorry but that club should be done away with.

It is harsh that it happens to clubs with real fans, shame this doesn't happen to Man Poo or Chelsea.

Maybe that shows us that running a lower league club is simply not commercially viable. More of the gravy at the top has to trickle down through the lower leagues. When I was a kid, lower league clubs had the prospect of some transfer revenue from the bigger clubs, but that has all but dried up as they look abroad for instant results.
In your scenario, we could struggle to maintain 4 professional leagues, which cannot be good for the long term future of the English game. It is hard enough for young English players to make the top level without eroding the base of the pyramid further.
And what if it was Stoke that had lived with a bad owner for 2 or 3 seasons? Maybe we shouldn't be so quick to say close them down.

Some of the governing rules suck, surely this is one of them. How is deducting so many points from a club going to help them? It isn't is it.
Clubs who are in financial difficulty require help, with all the millions and millions being chucked around at the moment there should be a pot held by the FA so that clubs like this can take a loan to get them out of the shit. What is to stop any owner raping his club then announce it is up fpr sale or even worse, bankrupt.
Help them, don't fuck them over!

I saw some Luton fans earlier who, I assume, had been to the appeal. I went to commiserate with them and their main bone of contention was that a bigger club wouldn't have been hit so hard. I asked if they would appeal again and they said probably not. They looked distraught but said that at least they have a bit of money behind them and clubs like Rotherham would be in deep trouble.

The points deduction system's got out of hand, making a team start the season 30 points down makes a mockery of that whole division now. There's got to be a better way.

Why on earth is this happening to Luton? It looks like they're penalized just for kicking a ball. Yet Dirty Cheating Leeds have been allowed to tinker along for ages. But then again they're a Big Club so a different set of rules applies to them. Hope Luton survive.

It's a shame for the fans, we were competing with them 4 seasons ago. The difference in fortunes is incredible. We have the Prem to look forward to, they have oblivion. I pity the Luton fans

what about clubs like Walsall who dont keep going into admin &/or make dodgy payments & (going back) ban away fans.
sorry but what should the League & FA do?
why should Luton maintain their status when clubs who try & stay solvent go down?

The rich get richer
The poor get poorer
Football is a fucking mockery, and if I hadnt been brought up with red and white blood, I wouldnt even consider it anymore
The game is run by television companies, bookmakers blah blah
Forget the honest to god down to earth football supporter who puts his or her hand in their pocket every week
Fuckin lottery the game is - rant over
