That were unable to buy any player in excess of around 4.m ? These first forays into the world of Premier transfer fees and wages are going to be a roller coaster for us.

It means we can't offer the right wages. I don't know what they expect though!

maybe hes had an acceptable offer and just checking what the other clubs i.e middlesborough are offering, allthough i reckon we'll beat boro due to geography

Lets be honest out of the 3 clubs we are the least desirable (sadly and truthfully). If Boro don't make an offer he will go to West Brom. If he joins us-bonus but I doubt he will!

why should baggies be more desirable ?

More wages, better media coverage, a manager that wants his team to play football. I agree with none of them but that is the West Brom are seen. And that is why they will be more desireable. I hate Mowbary and I don't think the football is that great. But the average man on the street that gets told of the great West Brom of Brazil will believe it!

Let's face it, if you're good enough to attract offers of 4m, you're going to think twice about joining Stoke. Sad but true.
And even if you're interested, it's going to be touch and go if you can fit inside our wage budget.

wbabrazilian, true your lot have been lauded in the media about your style of play, but only because you were an ex premier team subsequently relegated. All the positive press Wba received last couple of seasons was simply down to the friendly relationships made in the media while you were in the prem. All those Champagne lunches served in your press box to the hacks has served you well !!! If you had experienced 23 long years out of the top fight, then all the media would be slagging you off as Prem wannabees out of their class just like the rubbish press we are getting now. The truth is you lot cant stand the thought of us being in the prem along side Wba, you cant stand the fact you never win when you play us because of your Stoke Jinx.

Better Squad, better manager, better facilities, better chance of staying up. Need I go on? 1 - better manager? thats a matter of opinion, look at our resources compared to yours last season and it went down to the last two games to determine the champions. 2 - better chance of staying up?? - also a matter of opinion, you are going to conceed goals like they are going out of fashion, we are a very solid organised team. How can you say "our style" of football stands less chance of been more succesful than " your style". We are masters of our game and on the other hand there are 15 or so better "pretty football" playing teams in the premiership who will tear you to peices. This season when teams come to the brit they will know they will be in for a battle & leave feeling like they've been involved in a war, the question is - are they prepared for the passion, detemination, character and srtrength of our team??? all we need is a couple of decent creative players to turn the screws. What exactly is so special and different about WBA that gives you a better chance than us???.

Come on, you've got to admit it..we do play better football. Most goals scored in England? You must have seen the pass and move football we play...That said, if you can achieve promotion playing your way then fair play to you. We did in 2002. And on top of that, we both conceded 55 goals last season, so all this talk about us shipping goals isn't accurate. Better squad- More technically gifted. Better manager- More attacking, less organised. Better chance of staying up- Probably Better facilities- About equal

Thank fuck, a baggie fan that admits our style of play works and that they also used to get into the Premier league for the first time. Exalted!

shakes head at the baggies fan
You don't get it do you buddy - in the Prem you're not good enough to outplay the opposition (aka the Arse) AND you'll not be good enough to out muscle the opposition (aka Bolton).
Therefore you're screwed!
Unlike us who have an excellent foundation (physically and mentally) to become a more efficient Bolton.

See the Pompey match where You did 20 passes, did fuck all with it and then lost. That was boring football imo. Against us You did the same. Lots of passing but no penetration. It worked last year but Your players are going to either get out-passed or defended out of games. And You have lost what I would see as Your 2 best players in Phillips and Gera.

I agree Gera's going was a loss, but funnily enough, despite the goals he scored last season, I don't think we'll miss Phillips that much. Time will tell. In fairness, against Pompey, we did hit the bar and had far more chances than them, and they did win by a handball.

You could be right regarding Phillips but I still think his instinct in nicking a goal could have proved vital. Bar Greening (who I don't rate-never have done tbf!) who are Your central midfielders? I really don't know!

Baggiejp, I did see your lot at the brit, but I didnt see anything special, the result, 3-1 says that. Ultimately, Wba got promoted as Champions, fair play on balance your were the best team in the league but the league doesnt lie, we were 2nd !! So as I see it there isnt some kind of 'enormous gulf' in the two sides ability. as I stated in my previous post, your time in the Prem made most of your fans beleive your own 'Hype' as if you had some kind of Rite to be in the big time. We have earned our time in the Prem just as you have and we will give it our best shot doing it which ever way gets results.

Albion weren't anything special at the Brit, that's why. One of our worst displays of the season. Pele and Cesar at the back; may as well have been Cannon and Ball!! Still, all's well that ends well and we got a lovely trophy

We were the best team in the Championship...by two points wasn't it? I don't think we did much better than you last season. Where are opinions differ, is that I believe that our style will get us more points in the Premier League than yours will get you. But only time will tell.
