I have an '94 reg VW Golf, which has a rear fog light on the right hand side.
I am driving to France tonight, and staying there for 3 months. Do I need to change it to the left hand side?
There is a socket for the bulb on the left.
Any help appreciated.

i think you may need to, if you're going on the ferry they will usually give you a list to comply with while you are waiting to board so if you need to buy anything new their shop can rip you off ;D

if the socket is already there, chances are its live , stick a bulb in , see if it works and then check there is no plastic blanking plate in the light unit where it fits . if there is break it off , and fit, leave the other bulb , then you have twin rear fog lights , plenty of cars do have twin rear fog lights .
make sure you use the correct watt bulb .
