Martin King's Sports Betting: Stoke City have no chance Martin King « Previous « PreviousNext » Next »View GalleryADVERTISEMENTStoke City boss Tony Pulis was on the radio earlier this week and said surviving in the Premier League would be 'very difficult'. For me, they haven't got a chance. Stoke were forced to rely on a string of loan signings to help their promotion push last season. Pulis won't be able to do that again – he's only allowed to bring in two loanees all season. He also said where he squad lacked in quality, they made up in superior fitness. Fitness alone won't keep you in the Premier League and I see them as nailed-on certainties at 4/9 (Betfred, bet365) to go straight back down. To make the return more appealing, stick them in a relegation double with Hull City for around 2/1 with most firms. www.northamptonchron.co.uk/sport/Martin-King39s-Sports-Betting-Stoke.4279389.jp

Who were these loan signings we relied on? I do hope he's not being a thick journo cunt and thinks Ameobi and Pearson did well here!

I don't see what the problem is, we're going to be favourites with almost everyone.
You have to remember these are the same people saying our promotion push wouldn't last, last season.
It's easy to write us off.
It makes it even sweeter if we upset the odds.
Get used to us be being written off and slated by all and sundry.
Hopefully the players will use it as a motivation.

I'm usually very sensitive about things like this but there's not too much wrong with that one.
As of today we have no fucking chance of staying up! Hopefully by next week we might have.

it seems resonable apart from saying we used the loan system to gain promotion had we come up the year before then agreed. I don't imagine anyone advising a bet on the relegation battle will say much different.
Though as momo says if we can start to improve the squad those who took that advice may be out of pocket come may.

What a thick cunt- i suppose he thinks that Tone only signs loanee's.
I can only think of Zak and Pearson who were loanee's when we finished the season, yet they hardly played a massive part.
All the rest signed on.

These type of stories are exactly the motivation the team and TP need. Apart from the inaccuracies re the loans, you can't really argue with it. It's up to the lads to prove him and countless others wrong, GO STOKE!!!! ;D

I dont mind Stoke being favourites for relegation, but it really annoys the fuck out of me when they base their reasoning on the fact that we only did well last year because of 'a string of loan signings'!!!! What a load of bollocks, the only loan signing that did anything was Nash in goal, Pearson, Galligher, Ameobi et al did a collective and resounding fuck all in relation to our promotion!! Ok, our full time squad may have upped their own game with increased compitition, or they may have been influential in the dressing room, but that is not enough to say that they were the main reason why we got promoted!!! Nash was a good loan keeper, Zak was always solid when he came on but it ends there!
Not forgetting Jodi Craddock ofcourse, if it wasn't for him, I think we'd be playing league one football next season!!
Lazy journalistic tossers!!!

You've all forgot about the main man Riggott! I'd love it if he came back. A superb defender!

I don't care what people think to be honest, if people think we have no chance, there is going to be a lot of shocked faces when we win week in week out!

Erm, hang on a minute boys, both Shawcross and Cort were loanees before their iniyial signings. I doubt very much we would have signed Ryan prior to a loan. Leon I'm not to sure about. ??? We did use the loan system and credit to Tony and the backroom staff for doing that but it is a different ball game this season. It is a bit of a worry that we have no new staff right now. We're in a completly different league, out of our depth at present and there can be no quick fixes with loans. Of course we'll be joint fav's to go down with Dull, this was never in question. Who do you want the pundits to predict are going down, Everton, Totenham, Sunderland? Come on lets be realistic. Lets just hope that Tony unearths a couple of diamonds and a couple of coupes in the next couple of weeks so we'll have a chance of proving the pundits wrong.

Looking at our lack of pre season activity I'd say he's not far off the mark.

I bet you had one of those multi-colour pens at school and annoyed the fook out of the teachers by writing every word in a different colour... ;D
