I'm going on holiday soon and was wondering if I would be able to take an old passport that I currently use as i.d.?
Previously, I lost my passport and sent off for a new one, only to find the lost passport after the new one came. Now, when I go out up Hanley I use my old passport as i.d. so was hoping to put my old passport in my case.Would this be ok?
I don't drive so don't have any other form of acceptable i.d. other than my passport.I have a student card and Stoke away card but don't think these will be accepted.
Has anybody else used an old passport as i.d. abroad before?
Help much appreciated.

why do you want to use it as ID? if you mean can you use that to leave the country instead of taking your new one, then i'd say no but if you mean to take it so you can get into pubs/clubs then i dont see why not
where are you going?

I don't think some doorman on a club in ibiza has a link to the passport office database, use your old one as ID to get into the clubs. I would make sure the old one is locked away in your bag in the hold, not in hand luggage.

If they do a check at the Airport you may be arrested. When you get to Ibiza put your new one in the safe and use your old on as ID. Do not try to exit the UK on your old passport. Trust me

Keep legitimate passport safe in your room and use old passport as ID - and if you lose it who gives a fuck!! Praise be Allah

Trust me Spot on advice there. His only other concern would be if he loses the old one, which gets handed in, to be discovered that it's void...

but his other 'old' passport is in his suitcase and he won't be using it to get in or out of the country so the advice really is a bit wank?

Thanks for all the advice guys. I have no intention of using the old one to enter/leave the country. I only intend to use it as i.d. to get into clubs. I will put my old passport in my suitcase and ensure that my proper passport is safe.

Your old passport is now void and should be returned to the passport office. Use it by all means to get in and out of clubs but be aware that if you lose it and its found and handed in, you will be in serious trouble. That was the point I was trying to make, enjoy your holiday.

I don't think you'll get much mither getting into the over18 clubs. Some of the better clubs are over 21's so your passport will be useless anyway. Hoppe you have a great time.

You might look young now, but after a week in Ibiza's clubs, you'll look closer to 75! Book another week off work for when you get home and the "Ibiza Flu" kicks in......the mother of all comedowns!
Other than that, have a cracking time!
