Only £500K transfer fee
Not sure what his wages will be but it sounds like he'd had enough at Boro so probably not demanding too much

He's a bloody good signing for them. Exactly the type of player we should have been after imo.

Good player a couple of seasons ago. But he only looks half the player now (if that). Everytime i've seen him play he hasn't looked with it, and my mate is a boro season ticket holder and he says he's completely gash now.
Probably good that we've steered clear IMO.

Diao or Boateng? See ya laters Salif!

Post by CrazyPotter on Jul 9, 2008 10:36:03 GMT
If Diao finds his original form with us, then theres no doubting what an influential player he is for us. You were there the night he came on at Newcastle bayern, and he made a hell of a difference, just seemed to settle the whole team. Obviously he couldn't reproduce that in the league, but its hard for a player who had been out for long to walk into a winning side. Hopefully with a bloody good pre season behind him, he'll be the Diao we had in his first spell with us. Him or the current Boateng then? Diao for me.

Oh dear! The same Salif who tried to play Premier League football for Liverpool and Portsmouth? ;D The current Boateng for me-he is a proven Premier League player, Diao has proved he can't play there. And he did well against Castle but so did Parkin!

He played well at the Wolrd Cup and got signed on the back of that. Ask any Pompey and Liverpool fans about him and they will laugh in Your face. He is not a proven Premier League player, he could do well but when he played for both of them in a weaker league when he was younger he couldn't cope.

Both are a risky choice bayern. I think Diao is the better option - nows the chance to prove himself. Boateng has had his day.

I just have a feeling Salif will get slaughtered-he couldn't hack it when he was younger and fitter so what the hell is he going to be like now?

I would agree with Bayern ref Salif. I work with alot of Liverpool fans and they thought he was a shambles, and Rafa Benitez would not even look at him during any training sessions, as Salif would only be interested in the money. Lpool fans were delighted when he left after earning 40k a week there.

This is the first signing one of our likely rivals for next year has made which I'm jealous about. If he's still got the commitment could be a t'riific signing for Hull.

Yeah, maybe on the wane and is about a year older than Diao.
But he's been a good-level Prem player for years, whereas Diao hasn't cut it up there at all.

Shocked that everyone is so bothered about it, He is over rated and past it. They can have him, Mids are an average team looking to improve so the fact that they are letting him go shows he isn't even important to a medeocre prem team!!!

we'll see how it pans out.
depends on Boatengs attitude imho, wouldnt be surprised if he does the square root of bugger all there.
Salif, after last season, has to prove himself again - that factor might work in our favour.

Pulis was never in for Boateng whether that is a mistake or not we will have to see, i for one will be looking on with interest at Hull.

Bayern, Diao signed for Liverpool on 27 May 2002 (the same day as Quiterall came to Stoke) which was before the World Cup There is no doubting that he hasn't lived up to his promise in the Premier League. In his first stint at Stoke last season he was immense. As we sang: he was here, there and every fuckin where and allowed Russell to have a more free attacking role I worry that his injuries are taking their toll on his body and he won't be able to reproduce what was surely his best form since coming to England As for Boateng, I would have liked to see us go for him but Whelan and Delap are up to it in my eyes

Was he really? He was still a major flop in the Premiership though despite when he was signed. It's a stronger league now so I can't see how he will cope.

Yeah think Boateng bit past it now and although some criticise Salif, if he can possibly recover the form he showed during his first spell with us next to Whelan I think he may cut it in the prem

They didn't like him at Liverpool did they? ;D My friend is a season ticket holder at liverpool and i remember him laughing like jack nicholson in the shining when we signed Diao, he was absolute gash for Liverpool apparently completely invisible whenever he played.

I know its Liverpool and all the expectation and that but he was useless in the Premiership.

so therefore he must be gash if he plays in the prem for us?
