Hi lads n lasses, just a quick sky question, my lad has just moved out and left his sky+ in his room I am going to cancel it for him but what I was wondering is when it is cancelled can I use the box to view the freeview channels or is there something I have to do to enable me to do this. Cheers

Its as simple as that A word of warning to those receiving calls from "Sky" about an extended warranty. These calls are more often than not from a completely different company and nothing to do with Sky.

A little search round here should tell you all you need to know - www.avforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=259I'm going for HD next month... despite all the bad press about it on the forums. There again, I suppose most people only go on to these places to complain and not to praise!!

Cheers, I already have SKYHD but ITV are refusing to play ball and even though it is broadcast on the same satellite I believe it uses a different signal/codec/something more techy so that the sky boxes cannot pick up the signal

Me How do you rate HD? Have you had any problems with your box? Do you have all the movies, sports etc? I've not got the movies... it'll be sports all the way for me

Well if anybody needs a replacement sky box (not plus) with remote, let me know.... I had mine on contract but gone over to virgin media now so it doesnt need to be connected via the phoneline.

HD is superb for sports. Wimbledon in HD was spectaculary good as was the BBC Euros coverage. The ITV normal broadcasts were shit in comparison. I have the full subscription but I don't really watch that many movies tbh. I do watch Sky One HD shows which are very good. I have had problems with my box failing to record which I think I have now cracked. I think it fails due to Sky Anytime recording in the background. I have changed the box settings from auto to 15 mins playback, 2 mins recording at start of programme, etc, etc and it has been a lot more stable since. My only bug bear with HD is that the sound is quiet and I have to turn up the volume massively. Also annoys the hell out of me when non-hd programs are broadcast on the HD channels and that Dexter and NCIS are not broadcast on FXHD

scrub that last part, it looks like dexter IS going to be broadcast in HD though I don't know why it was not simulcast!
Dexter FX HD Friday, July 11th, 2008 10:00pm to 11:00pm
It's Alive!. Series 2, episode 1 The brand new season of the "killer drama". Dexter Morgan has a problem. Several in fact. His victims are escaping; Doakes is suspicious and constantly tailing him and on top of all of that he cannot seem to kill anyone. It is not that he doesnt want to. He does. He needs to. But forty days after taking his brothers life, Dexter is finding his... "hobby" more difficult. Meanwhile Dexters sister Debra is struggling to get over her episode with Rudi and somewhere, off that coast of Miami, two scuba divers are about to make a gruesome discovery. Starring Michael C Hall. High Definition
