They cut you (well me) open, spread the ribs, have a poke around, then decide how much of the lung they are going to remove

All the very best hun, hope they can get everything sorted for you while they're poking around in there but be kind to yourself, anything that opens your thorax up is major surgery and almost any movement you make afterwards will be very sore and they'll be cutting through muscle as well as bone so it's going to take a while.
I'll be thinking of you, we all will xx

kingal If you havent discussed this with the doc then maybe you should mate. As knowledgable as some oaties are I think you're knocking on the wrong doors Good luck Understand what you're saying swampy, spoke to doc and several consultants, keep getting different info Just thought I'd get it from the horses mouth so to speak, that's why I asked if anyone had had it done. Once again thanks to all for the best wishes and will try to be fit for first match of season

My Mom had this op 12 months ago, she was in Hospital 5 days, it's taken a while for her to recover & it is painful so don't skimp on the pain relief, she itched like crazy too as the nerve endings were knitting together. Obviously she didn't need time off from work being 75 but it's taken months rather than weeks to get back to normal. other things to think about are No driving, no lifting, especially heavy objects or pushing, lawn mowers around for example.
All the best to you.
