......who you could bring back and put straight into the present team, then who would you choose, and why.? ???
For me I'd have to say Mark Stein.I always thought that he could have really proved himself in the top flight and was probably the last really exciting 'special' player we have had, apart from Hoekstra.
Sadly he never really fullfilled his potential after leaving Stoke and it is for this reason that I would "reincarnate" him into the present side.
A hypothetical thread I know....but never-the-less there should be some interesting names put forward.

Peter Hoekstra, we desperately need a class left winger!

He retired years before I was born but from all I've heard, Neil Franklin would give us everything we need next season. Greenhoff and Huddy just might do a job too

Sal....Greenhoff was my all time favourite Stoke player....Damn I perhaps have made a mistake, although in naming Greenhoff there would be no question of his calibre and skill level.
Truly an all time legend.
Jimmy Greenhoff.

Selecting only from players that I've seen, a close call between Hoekstra and Steino, but would plump for the Golden One, not least because of his better fitness.

Stein, he more than proved when he moved to Chelsea that he could do it at the highest level!

Stein was in and out of the side at Chelsea and gradually faded into the reserves permanently.

"The Golden One" was how we referred to Mark Stein - a true idol.

Would a total specialist like Sir Stan have a real chance in the modern game though?

I'm too young to answer the question really (I didn't get to see some of the greats over the years).
My favourite player was Thorney though, I thought he was awesome when I was a youngster.
Hopefully we'll have 1 or 2 new heroes next season.

Peter Dobing, a player with skill, creativity, pace and who could score goals. Oh, and he also had a decent long throw. Aye, aye, aye, aye Banks is better than Yashin Dobing is better than Eusebio And Arsenal are in for a thrashing.

why did stein move to chelsea? Probably a combination of the chance to play in the top league, more money for him, and money for Stoke City.
