De Zerbi got 2 years left on contract but takes no compensation either

I’m sure it hurts any ambitious manager losing the likes of Cucurella, Caicedo, and Mac Allister for big money but not replacing them with a similar level of player.

According to Sky Sports. Man United? Juventus? Bayern? Barca? Juventus look like going after Motta from Bologna. Bayern still sacking Tuchel could end up their as everyone has turned them down so far. Bit like Ange and Spurs last year but totally different club stature. Barca murmurs of them sacking Xavi even though he said he would stay. The shite I get the feeling ten hag will say for start of next year. Brightons form went as soon as linked with bigger jobs for him question is who goes their and maybe they could struggle? Or Potter going back their maybe? Just a thought.

Also Southgate to the site and Potter to England wouldn't surprise me as well.

If they stick with their model, they will have someone already lined up. If whatever reason they stray from it, I wouldn’t at all be surprised if they struggle next season…..feels like they could be at a crossroads and as we know, the sun sets on most of us in the end. Just wish it would set on the Bournemouth arseholes sooner rather than later.

Was listening to Simon Jordan the other day & he seemed to think Brighton may have reached their ceiling & will struggle to keep replicating what they've been doing going forwards. Similar to what likes of Wigan had done, could possibly include ourselves in that category.

Would absolutely bomb at United. He might, but even if he did, he wouldn’t be the first, far bigger names than him have failed there. I think De Zerbi will get a chance at a big club and I think it’ll be well deserved. Whenever he goes I don’t think it can go as badly for him as it did for Potter at Chelsea.

I get that players will want to move to other clubs fighting for titles or playing in the Champions League. But surely any club should be looking to move up from merely surviving at a profit and looking to develop and progress. Brighton have received approx £200M from their sales. They are in a position where they should be looking to move a notch up from buying unknowns from obscure teams for peanuts. I'm not saying go and blow it all on some reject mercenary from La Liga, but the money from those players needs to be reinvested into a similar level (or not too far under) to the ones that have left. If Stoke's one and only remit was to just survive without having at least some strategy for gradual improvement over a period of time, I'd lose the will to keep watching eventually.

He’s walked the league two seasons on the trot with back-to-back promotions. I reckon he’ll be just fine at Ipswich.

I like to watch players develop personally. There is very little room for improvement for a club like them from where they are. What they should really be looking to do is make £300,000,000 from their next tranche of sales whilst investing in even more identified potential. Maybe qualify for Europe again win a cup or something, score more goals, win more home games. If that wouldn’t satisfy you you really don’t like the game and are merely interested in looking at positions in a league table and results in the paper.

Think he’s tailed off a bit hasn’t he?
You certainly wouldn’t be as willing to employ him at your huge club after the past 3-4 months or so.

Positions in the table and results is what this game is all about son! I'd prefer to see us with a big fat W next to our 1-0 result in the paper than a red L from a 4-3 loss. The game is about the heights you can reach and where you can go. It might sound daft, but every team should start the season trying to win the league. That's where a winning mentality comes from to get you into those positions. I like to see players develop too, but moreso if they stay and help progress my club... not anyone else's. All well and good if those unpolished nuggets for little money bear fruit in the way Caicedo, Cucurella and Mac Allister did. Long term though, that is not sustainable. You only need one bad season of recruitment and it all starts falling apart. Brighton did not spend well enough, and that's why they have not reached the same heights.
