I watched my first ever match from the old Stoke end (1972), I climbed the drain pipe in the alley behind it. Over the wall and hid in the bogs until the gates were opened. Stoke v Chelsea. We lost 2-1. But i didnt mind cos from that day onwards I was a stokie and fucking proud of it..
Gooooooooaaarrrrrnnnnn...

I remember paying 50p to get in, the steep bank at the back, the dirty, nay rancid stench in the bogs at the bottom of the bank, the kids semi-circle where i was robbed by those nice Liverscum fans who talk with a lump of phlegm at the back of their throats and get blamed for all the trouble but are innocent, Innocent my arse. Gizz yer money lad one of em said , so i pulled a few 1s and 2s out me pocket and dropped most of it, you should have seen the scum crawling on the floor for a few pennies, I just legged it when they were all grovelling about in the filth that is a football terrace. Remember a man citeh fan trying to nick me mates scarf and wishing he'd doubled his dental insurance. Remember staying after the crowd had gone to collect fag coupons and owt of any value that was left on the terrace, which wasnt a lot if the nice witty lads from Liverscum had been there.

I loved the old Stoke end I started watching Stoke in there in 1970. I loved the long climb up the stairs with an excited glance to the right to see if the tv cameras were there on the dodgy looking wooden platform!
Also when leaving I remember we left at the right hand side and running / falling down the gravelly - grassy - muddy bank and putting my hands out as my speed hit its max as I ran into the brick building that was the toilets!
I used to watch the Boothen and really REALLY want to be there! But it was ace watching it sway all over the shop with the weekly black hole when trouble broke out shortly followed by the cry of 'Stokie aggro Stokie aggro' eeeeehhhh memories!!

Anyone have any good ,bad, funny memories of the old seating area above the away end at the VIC? i sat up there for my first ever game in 1994 or 95. first game of the season, a 1-0 win against tranmere. i think john clark scored it. it was peschisolido's debut as well. quickly migrated to the terraces though and moved to the boothen paddock. always remember one of the most intimidating away followings id ever seen at the end of that season when bolton came to town for a midweek match. i think they were top of the league and i walked into the paddock and the entire stoke end was full of bolton fans. peter shilton was in goal for them that night as well. another good memory of it was when we beat southend 1-0 to get into the playoffs at the end of the 95 season. southend literally brought about 20 with them so they got moved into a block of the butler street. loads of stoke fans then jumped down into the terrace from the seats above because it was over sold! weird to think that this was 13 years ago now.
