If he's backup and cheap then fine. If we're rolling the dice then it's very risky given his injury record.

Happy with that. Though would want another LB
Junior - RB, possible RW if needed Gooch - RB, possible RW and LB if needed. Stevens - LB

Absolutely fine as an understudy......

He's been excellent at times but obviously can't play a full season. We need another LB that is younger and fitter.
It also helps with a bit of continuity which we are crying out for.

Thought he made a big difference when he came back into the team
Well worth an extension

All good if we sign a decent 2 lb. For me the new signing should be for the starting 11, i expect Stevens to play his part of course and start afew too but injury depending. When fit he made such a difference in the back 4 having an actual lb there and not a rb or cm.

A good back up option to have, now lets sign a proper young left back

Good pro and if we do get a young LB would be a great mentor. I'd be happy with an equivalent at RB to bring on Tchamadeu.

If we can find a young, athletic left back similar to Junior, this will be a great signing. Enda is very experienced, likely a good professional and still competent (when fit).

He obviously offers alot in the changing room, played well when fit.
Good signing aslong as we sign a younger left back also as number 1

He’s seems a good egg, not a shithouse like a few others. You need good strong experienced characters to mix in. Keep standards high hopefully

When I see evidence that he's not first choice I'll be happier with the extension.

Good player WHEN fit...
But that's the problem...He was fit for 46% of our league games this season, and we knew he was injury prone before he signed.
Him plus another left back will still most likely result in JT having a spell at left back this season.

Pleased with Stevens getting another year If Pieters was a couple of years younger, you could maybe make a case, but he hasn't got near the WBA squad for a couple of months And surely at 36 in August, we won't be going in with a 70 year-old LB stable (although the bulk of Pieters' recent football seems to have been at centre-back) If Walters goes all-in on the good character/leadership/experience angle, who knows? But it'd potentially be a worry that was becoming too much of a driver. It'll be interesting to see if Schuey is fully on board if Walters keeps banging the drum for Champ-proven veterans. Presumably he has some kind of significant veto/voice in the direction and shape the squad will take?

I am not sure about all the "as long as he's back up" comments. Obviously we need two good options at left back but I am relaxed if Stevens starts the season as first choice.

Good news in many ways though we definately a young LB like the lad at Crewe who can be completion for the spot. When he’s played he’s made us look a better side.

Not bad but don't think he's up to the level we should be aspiring to. Would have gladly taken Harry Pickering a couple of years ago

If he's cheap and staying purely as back up then fine but I will be very disappointed if he is our starting left back next season. I am fed up of short term fixes using injury prone, veterans. We have needed a proper 40 plus games a season left back for far too long now. Sort it out Stoke.
