A bit of a long post sorry A lot clubs in this division have a fan base that see themselves as big clubs, many of which have a more successful history than us. Many have won the the old first division, and Leicester of course won the PL a few years ago. The top 3 as it stands now have all won the top league and going down the list you'll see many who have also won the first division at some point. Huddersfield won it 3 years in a row. Next year, Sheff Utd, Burnley, Derby and Portsmouth will join us in the Championship, all of which have won Division 1 A fair few championship teams have won the FA cup too. Most have played in the PL at some point. It's a very difficult league. Every game that we play we will play teams who will want to win as much as we do. Just like our squad they'll have trained all week and be prepared. Their fans want them to win every bit as much as we do. We have no divine right to win a game. So why is it then why are (some) supporters so critical when a result doesn't go our way? No one can deny we were left with a dire situation when we got relegated. We didn't have any saleable assets and were left with a bunch of bang average players on big long contracts. None of which went to play at high level after leaving us. However now, for the first time in a long while I think there are signs that things are going to improve. Someone said in another post they could see 'light at the end of the tunnel' I agree. Perhaps I'm too optimistic but I'm sure some people will agree that since SS has come we are seeing an improvement. On the whole a more attractive style of play and we have won key games when we've had to. Despite what the critics say our recent draw a Sheffield Wednesday was a huge result. We basically took out our nearest rival for relegation. Wins on the road recently at three play-off chasing teams was no mean feat either. So, I for one am looking forward to next season with SS and super Jon. It would be nice to go out with a bang on Saturday!

That’s a long post? Ted965 would call that a sentence. Ted would deliver a 300 word essay to call it a sentence

We had plenty of saleable assets. Allen, Butland, and Bauer in particular could have been cashed in on. We just chose to give them stupid long contracts on big money instead as we assumed we could bounce back up to the Prem quickly. Hindsight is always perfect, and at the time a lot of people were commending that approach, but how we handled relegation has basically become a template for how not to do it for every club that’s come down since.
