Presumably it's going to be Burger, comfortably.
With Bae Junho a very strong second.
No idea who else would be remotely in the mix.
Third place will be a very interesting call.
Maybe even Hoever's late run and Thompson's decent run will put them in the mix with some recency bias involved.
Rose 3364 minutes Hoever 3270 McNally 3188
Burger 2765 Laurent 2727 Bae 2377 Thompson 2257 Wilmot 2190

Hoever and Thompson even being mentioned shows the recency bias of this stupid award.

I voted for Bae.
Think burger has been good, but bae has had more of an impact.
Burger tailed off massively as well when it’s mattered the most.

I think there are only 2 candidates - but third is necessarily going to have to go to someone who's had a very mixed bag of a season, to put it mildly. Maybe Gooch if not Hoever/Thompson. I don't think you could go with any of the centre-backs or Laurent with a straight face

If you had to I don’t think anyone deserves third. I don’t think we should have it at all tbh. Burger should be an easy winner then Bae. But they’ve played well in less than 50% of their time here which isn’t great. And I love the pair of them and think that’s fine for two newbies in the country. But yeah what a low bar.

Yeah, I don't think that would be undeserved, and I think Bae will have the better career and he's done about as much as you could possibly hope for in his first season. He's special. Burger just hasn't been able to get back up to speed over the last month. But I do think his consistency levels in a dysfunctional team, right until that silly booking at Preston, gave him quite a big lead, which Junho possibly hasn't quite overhauled, despite looking better by the week - but it's pretty close.

To be fair to him, Thompson had a very good spell of form when Schumacher first arrived and was producing decent performances consistently. Whether he's in the running for player of the year is open debate, I'd say not, but he's certainly had his best season in our colours. Early season, I thought he was OK in midfield then Christmas/January he turned in some good performances in midfield and at left back. Of late, Hull and Saturday, he's been decent in midfield and poor at left back. Credit where credits due though. He's certainly gone up in my estimations this season. He's certainly been one of our better players throughout the season, which I admit, isn't saying too much sadly.

He’s a whole hearted player and for that alone I think deserves to be in the conversation for third place. The top two are sewn up. Junho for me just, I just think he’s a bit more popular apart from anything else

I agree wholeheartedly with this. When the team was struggling massively, Burger stepped up and consistently produced performances that earned us vital points in keeping us out of the bottom 3. He's definitely struggled since coming back into the team following the recent suspension but that shouldn't cloud his performances prior to that where he was consistently very good. I wonder if handing the captaincy back has hurt him a bit as well. He seemed to revel in that responsibility and during that period, I thought he was brilliant. Burger is my player of the year, with Bae second. The rest are nowhere near though I do think Rose has improved as the season has gone on, so if I had to pick a 3rd place, I'd probably go for him.

A top 5 compiled of three players who a lot would say are crap, but that’s where we are. Hoever and Rose have played a lot of minutes and had a few very good games as well as some shockers, admittedly.
Burger - 8/10 Bae - 8/10 Thompson - 7/10 Hoever - 6/10 Rose - 6/10
