Pretty sure the FA never gave permission to Panini for lots of things before including the crest and players wearing the kit previously. They drew white track suits over the kits of England players and just had the flag as the badge which is why they obtained some rights to players in some cases

Used to love doing these back in the 70s and early 80s. Always liked the shiny club crest badges.
My overriding memory though, and I don't know why, is Gerry Gow for Bristol city running out from the tunnel at pitch level and Sammy Chung as Wolves manager 😂

Decided to do one for the 2018 world cup and ended up on the official swap website negotiating swap deals with kids which felt totally weird to be honest but wanted to complete it. Got to the point where you could order what was outstanding and the useless bastards sent me a duplicate Iranian so was left with one outstanding! Wanted to do this year's with the wee one but took one look, realised it wasn't Panini and rubbered it.

Budweiser did a thing in boxes for the USA WC- I think was £10 for the player who scored with the shirt number you got ..say Brazil 10 They were all number 1 or 2 but a full back scored 3 goals for one country so worked out ok

Wiped out a Beswick horse and foal trying lob our sleeping dog! Was the dog the on rushing keeper? Yeah mate I'd Baggio'd it through the dining room, into the living room then lifted it over the dog on the rug - must have been watching Shilton v West Germany because the useless fucker never got off the ground as the ball flew over its head before crashing into the fireplace.

My dog was only small but more often than not he’d just get a touch on it to send it past the fire surround and into the wicker basket filled with pampas grass which would in turn set alight quicker than McMuffin can get Biggins into a post

There must be a klaxon in house that goes off!

I was one sticker short in the 1978 sticker album to filling it , just couldn't get Tony Brown for WBA no matter how many packs I bought I was one short in 1986/87. Completed it up to the last 50, sent off to panini to get those delivered as you could just fill in a form for the final few. Stuck em in, proudly leafing through........realise I've got 2 x Steve Kinsey and no Paul Simpson on the Man City page.

One of my lads does them all. Prem, world cup etc.. This book is an absolute joke. It's got about 200 random stickers that aren't needed, just absolute random shit. It's got all the play-off teams that aren't even there and you need a degree to be able find where you stick half of them in never mind being 5. That's the final nail in the coffin for trying to get anywhere near completing that. The panini prem league ones are honestly different class to what we used to have going up.

Wanted to do this year's with the wee one but took one look, realised it wasn't Panini and rubbered it. 86/87 had Scottish Teams and also a couple of pages for division 2 so you got a Stoke badge and team photo. Don't recall a cartoon bit but there was definitely a world cup page in the middle so you have a sticker of the mexico 86 mascot and also a double page of Liverpool lifting various trophies. I completed Brazil 2014, vanquishing the ghosts of previous attempts to actually finish one. I worked next door to the football museum at the time and they had a swap meet on a couple of times a week which made it slightly less of a ball ache than usual.
