Probably say all midweek games will be live which I think probably accounts for 8? Maybe a couple more. So potentially 15 games not at 3pm on a Saturday, equally split that’s 7/8 home games not at the regular time. Terrible really. I get it opens up access to fans but it will kill the matchday experience. Realistically, bar fans of each club who wants to watch, for example Stoke v qpr on a Saturday lunch time?

With the addition of an already crowded midweek programme it’s likely to make things ( very ) difficult or unattractive for many match going fans .. away games particularly so for the less than committed , Friday’s arnt usually a good day on the roads and persistently taking Monday / Friday off is often seen as red flags by many HR departments

For people that live abroad etc: will this mean that ifollow won't be happening anymore and we can only watch the sky games?

The EFL is confident that the decision will not affect attendances, saying in a statement: "Nothing beats the live matchday experience and we are confident that fans that can and are able to attend a match will continue to do so in the large numbers that we continue to see through the turnstiles. We also know that there is a large demand from fans that cannot always get to games, so making more EFL action available through one established provider represents another way of taking EFL action to the audience."

Thus down from about 15/16 this season ( 4 mid week and 3/4 Fri night/Sat 12.30 or Sunday). This i think may be the final straw to some supporters who travel some distance to home games and may turn into casuals as a ST becomes less attractive in cost. Fans whom just watch via sky will be happy.

Still work to be done ensuring our safety of course , and the devil in the detail
Will likely alter my enjoyment considerably , but TBH won’t change the number of games I attend, but then I’m puddled , realistically though others wont be as forgiving , be it due to logistics or else decent aways in particular turned into unattractive straight there & back jobs, which for many is a turnoff
The flip side might mean some games , especially aways , become more attractive and in demand simply because they’ll be one of just a handful of traditional timed KOs left , the issue for some maybe demand outstripping the allocation
Fixture release will probably mean fixtures for the entire division are scanned in the hope that any attractive fixture is trumped by another clubs even more attractive fixture tv wise ..all in all pretty crap really

A number of official supporters clubs and guys who run buses from pubs etc to home games could possibly be in for a torrid time having to schedule different size buses for certain games from their service provider, who may also be adversely affected by loss of revenue.

For people that live abroad etc: will this mean that ifollow won't be happening anymore and we can only watch the sky games? Just get an IPTV package it covers both eventualities and will give you hundreds/thousands of channels and be cheaper than ifollow on it's own.

I appreciate what some are saying but I think being able to watch your team from almost anywhere outweighs the negatives. I find it a huge improvement on the old times. I have a ST but miss (attending) numerous games due to spending a lot of time in Spain so games being broadcast via whatever media means I rarely miss any action apart from when I'm in the air(1 this season QPR at home). The sooner they get wifi on all aeroplanes the better.

But usually they use the ifollow coverage and I was wondering if that will still exist, as it might not be financially viable for them anymore. Cheers for the replies!

The EFL statement said ifollow would continue but when a game is live on Sky or on partner international.broadcasters then wouldn’t be available in that country. Either way would be on IPTV.
No real difference to the exile fan but erodes the match day experience for ST holders if playing Fri/Sun/Mon.

A bit of a blow for people who've already renewed their season tickets? This should have been announced prior to Season Tickets going on sale and folk should be entitled to a refund as a consequence. This is totally out of order. Saturday 3pm games are the only ones I can realistically make usually. Fortunately I have not bought a season ticket and wont be doing so. We are going to have more fans watching online than at the match which is crap for match day experience and football in general.

They have ifollow and Sky and BT and god knows how many sports channels including ppv so if it’s being broadcast virtually anywhere you can watch it and they can be had for really low annual subscriptions.

No real difference to the exile fan but erodes the match day experience for ST holders if playing Fri/Sun/Mon. As I’ve already said not necessarily I’m a ST holder and all things considered find being able to watch virtually every Stoke game worth it. I think the fact that quite a few games will be on Sky that I’d normally watch on ifollow is a bonus because the coverage, analasys and information provided is far better than the biased local radio version that comes with ifollow. Traditionalists just don’t like any form of change, same with scrapping replays and extra time bring it on if they can’t sort it out in 90 minutes straight to penalties. Shame they don’t go further and have one after a 0-0 and only the team that wins the shootout gets a point. It would kill the keep the point we start with mentality, no goals no points potentially.

Ruddy difficult travelling to those week night games. Sky would no doubt be using red button option. No possibility of catching a few of those week day games on NOW as they don't do red button. Full Sky subscription not cheap!

It’s royally buggered me and my two kids. Both have huge sporting commitments so realistically any changes will stop us going to lots of games. It’s really not worth me getting season tickets. I hate modern football I really do.
