You couldn't have found 2 equally matched teams at the time which made the score even more bizarre Everything we hit went in but we were on fire that day. The Pennant run summed us up . Walters goal was fantastic , Imagine if had been a higher profile player What a brilliant day that was around all the pubs in Stoke on Trent. 9 months later my son was born. I take it the celebrations there 👍

Didn't we all. Where I was at least it was one of the strangest half-time concourse atmospheres I've ever encountered.. it was eerily quiet, people just milling around uneasily, almost unsure what to do with themselves. Like every person there was thinking "this seems good but it just isn't right somehow..." My Dad wasn't a Stoke fan but started to come to games and loved the Pulis era He was at Arse semi as often got cup final and semi tickets back in the day and would go to whatever games he could . He was a Man U season ticket holder He mentioned the Arse game about 20 times when we were ahead which didn't help.

Have you got time to watch this today? Of course you have. Watch out for cameos from Nigel Johnson, Denis Smith, Gordon Banks, Mama Sidibe, Salop Diao, Ryan Shotton, Danny Collins and Mochael Tonge. Maybe it's because of our current side, but the outstanding performances from Shawcross, Huth and Whelan really stood out, even if they went under the radar at the time. I've watched about eight minutes of that and one thing I will say is thank fuck there was no VAR

Maybe VAR could have helped us scrape through to pens

Totally surreal day.
I will never forgive the FA for scheduling a couple of Premier League matches in the same slot as their own FA Cup semi-final, which meant almost nobody saw this match outside the stadium. I think it was Liverpool vs Man Utd or something like that.
Anyway, my vids from the day:

I ran my first marathon earlier then got to my seat just as they were tossing the coin in the middle of the pitch, good timing.

It's a weird incident, it doesn't feel like the wrestling is enough for a penalty - Davies is giving as good as he gets - or the ball hitting an arm. It's like two half-penalty offences. But then I don't think penalties should be awarded for anything short of actual murder.

We're a million miles away, from that tumultuous day, don't think we'll be going back that way! Not sure we are. A year before we went up we were light years away, takes one promotion and that first season. In the space of 18 month we were beating the likes of Newcastle and Arsenal after being as equally bad as now. No one saw promotion coming the Summer before . I'd say relegation was more likely

If only we had that team fully fit for the final Jones, Walters, Etherington and Pennant weren't anywhere near fit You can add Huthy to that list too. I've always thought that a fully fit team with Ricardo in for Jones would have won the cup that day but it wasn't to be.

Maybe VAR could have helped us scrape through to pens At a tribute to TP lunch last year he said that the goal was offside so we actually didn't lose that day! Add all the financial bollocks re Man Citeh and we we won the cup really!!!!

Some say semi shouldn’t be played at Wembley but what a day we would have missed in the top 3 best matches supporting stoke city
Other 2 Leeds away 0-4 Villa at home 3-2

When Jon walters scored his first and Stoke's fourth early in the second half, I thought we should at least get a draw and extra time... I genuinely didn’t relax and start enjoying myself till that fourth went in!

Heaven.

It's not often when you follow a club like ours that you get to experience the perfect day. That was a perfect day. Yes it was. Everything about it including personal reasons made it very special .. Thank you TP. I slagged you off more than most in the early days but you were a special manager for our Club.
