Any examples of bad ( or above what is expected) experiences of eating out? Also of complaining?
I went for a breakfast last week, somewhere I had been about five times before, same breakfast ( pancakes and fruit). Usually consistently brilliant. This time, not the same at all...actually half the size and half the fruit. The explanation was that people are returning so much of it, uneaten , they decided to cut down?????,
Isn't one problem when eating out, you don't actually know what you are getting until it comes. Technically I got what I ordered

I write a lot of Tripadvisor reviews about restaurants and hotels, most positive ones but my main bugbear is poor customer service.

I went to a restaurant in Ibiza last year. A beautiful sea front location and plush surroundings. I ordered a pizza and the Mrs had calamari. Waited over an hour. The food arrived and the pizza was over cooked and rock hard, calamari was the same. Both items were over 20 euros each. When I complained to the manager I used the pizza as a frisbee to show how overcooked it was and asked why. His response was staggering. He said “I’ll be totally honest with you, we buy the pizzas from a freezer at the supermarket and the calamari isn’t exactly the freshest”! I said I admired his honest whilst laughing at him and of course refused to pay a penny (cent).

We don't tend to eat out much barring a Sunday dinner at the local, because we know if we go elsewhere we're likely to be disappointed. We have a voucher for Lunar at Wedgwood which will hopefully be good. The main places for disappointment are your bigger chains - went to TGI Friday's in Telford the other week because we were there and had a discount code and it was just so ordinary. My burger was OK but at full price I'd have told them to piss off I think.
I remember waiting an hour for breakfast in Market Drayton a couple of years ago. A few weeks later we read a story of the chef then coming out after complaints from customers one night and basically telling everyone to fuck off. That place has changed hands so many times. I don't see what is so difficult to get a place up and running and to some sort of decent standard. If you go the bother of doing it, you at least put everything into making it work, don't you? Even if that means not taking every booking that comes your way.

Not sure if this the right place to post it, well I guess it is but the Buffalo Wings at Bunny Jacksons in Manchester are the most amazing wings going.
Went again last night.
The wings are 50p each & obviously you order as many as you want.
Its a proper right good dive bar with great music.

It's not 50p each but they do have the old "bottomless" stuff every now and again, usually on Bank Holiday weekends.

I had a spoons large breakfast on Sunday. Absolutely perfect after the night before. Great value too Yes there’s worse things in life. But the price of them has really gone up in the last few years (way above inflation I would guess) and they’re not always as warm as they should be.

The quality of ingredients is shocking but I guess you get what you pay for Ping food at spoons, no ta Chef required, no experience needed, but must be able to read Microwave Instructions. Though to be fair most chains bring food in pre cooked just ready to warm. I try to avoid chains if I can...

A thing I've started to not shy away from as I've got older is just simply getting up and walking out if I get bad service from the off. Did it in Spain in a posh restaurant for a family meal. Didn't get any service for ages and wasn't feeling 'the vibe' so just fucked off to an outdoor cafe round the corner (with the family of course) Completely different story, outstanding service, probably better food and way better all round experience. I think you get more confident in complaining as you get older as well.

Pleasantly surprised at Piccolo in Audlem (Italian).
Not a massive fan of Italian food as I find it much of a muchness hence avoid going for this type of food but it was excellent, only a small place but the pizza I had was honestly the pizza I’ve had
Big thumbs up from me

If you want a good curry, go to the restaurants in Shelton like Mirchi or Lahori Kebabish. The ones like Basmati that cater to the post-pub and Tikka Massala crowd have little respect for their customers and treat all diners as cattle herd, and the food is often bland anyway. Youd'd get better from a jar of Sharwoods.
