Hello Stokie's Long time lurker and very occasional poster here from Pasoti. I also write the One Game at a Time Thread on the site which previews and reviews games through the season. As you might imagagine for a series written very much tongue in cheek, it has had a fair amount of interest in the respective performance of our two teams, especially since December. For what it is worth ( and with a nod to this site for one of the the references to Johnny King,) here isa link to this weeks posting pre Saturday. Sadly I won't be there, and I am sure it will be raucous and passionate. These temporary rivalries tend to burn out quite quickly. Here's the link. Always happy to correct factual errors....and based on this thread, grammatical ones too I suspect pasoti.co.uk/threads/one-game-at-a-time-youre-only-here-for-the-past-ties-stokealona-a-april-20th.127891/#post-2528048Enjoyed that - a good read and decent of you for sharing it. You'll have to temper some of our reactions as we've been biting our nails and fighting like married couples on here all season. (Status Quo) Yes, the Monkeydusters Unwashed Vale live through us vicariously since they've started a brain Co-Op where one is shared between several people, God bless em. And the grammar thing, like us playing well, only flares up from time to time. The barometric pressure, week day, voodoo-doll, wind direction and temperature all have to be just right. Every match left for both of our teams will be a temporary rivalry - at least I hope our players approach it that way and are awake for the rest of the games. Jeckyl and Hyde FC aka Stoke riding the rollercoaster of the Bi-Polar Championship - it's a grind for players and fans with most seasons producing PTSD, not trophies. The one thing you can count on with us - inconsistency. Flashes of good interlaced with awkward slapstick comedy errors. One advantage is that it makes us "un-scoutable" - we're a living, breathing coin-toss. I wish you good luck (against everyone but us of course) for the rest of the season.

You've missed nothing mate. They hate us because we took their manager from them but if truth be told if they weren't in our league I would forget they even exist. Nice place mind. Oh it's the Schumacher thing? Fair enough. I wouldn't know what it's like to have a manager pinched. The last one was Cotterill way back when? I thinks that says more about the quality of manager than anything though! It can only be that mate but I'd save my anger for the manager personally rather than the club they left for if the shoe was on the other foot.

I like the (childish & immature) idea of shouting ‘you’re just a bunch of pirates’ at the PAFC fans followed by ott chants “oo-aarrrr’

The fans have been together. What the club and the fans especially need is the players to put out a consistent performance and a manager to put out a line up that will attack the opposition. Do those two things and the crowd will be 100% behind them.

You’re walking the plank you’re walking the plank ……. Plymouth Argyle ……. You’re walking the plank (admittedly this song only works if we’re winning) Also don’t forget alternative songs: “you’re just a bunch of pirates / sailors” “You can stick yer cream teas up yer a****”

I still feel Iverson is not the one we need in goal - the number of times he should have (note: not should of) come out when the ball was floated in to our 6 yard area was criminal. Even their (not There) goal could have been avoided if Iverson had been more assertive and got to the ball and just punched it away - then of course we had two defenders turning their backs on the SW player who scored with a cross shot. Definitely room for improvement and maybe we go for Travers because for me Iverson is no better than Bonham. Sorry but the lack of English grammar on this forum is shocking. I suppose the lack of grammar is something else we can blame on Covid/Brexit/Putin (everyone’s a victim these days!!!)

Gordon Bennett what a dreadful watch that was. This is our lowest ebb for league finishes since we finished 21st in 02/03, 21 years ago. This is their highest league finish since finishing 21st in the Championship in 08/09, 15 years ago. I think it's quite obvious why Schumacher left them to come here. That bit about Bojan was dreadful. Like an episode of the Inbetweeners.

He has to attack, Million must start, I have seen some suggesting Leris does, we have to be positive from the first minute.

Really insightful and interesting conversation. Looks like we're not the only ones who think our club is vastly underperforming as a result of the people at the top.
