I’ve just received my “Admiral Multi Cover” renewal pack.
It’s taking the piss massively, up by just under 50%, how the F’ck can they get away with day light robbery.
I’ve rang a few other insurance providers and they’re even more expensive. 🤬🤬🤬
Max no claim and with the two family cars we average around 13k per year, we’re both in our fifties and clean licenses.
They reckon it’s due to the car part prices rocketing which is bull shit, well they haven’t increased by 50% anyway.
With the price of absolutely everything this country is well and truly ucked

Car Insurance is odd. I used to work in it, when it was a lot more straightforward.
I'm just buying myself my first 'own' car, after having Company Cars for 25yrs plus.
I've come to insure it privately, originally I'd thought that I'd need to get some proof of claim-free driving from my employer, to try to get a discount from insurers.
They don't seem bothered. If I tick the box to say '10 years-plus claim free driving on a Company Car' the Premium is £1,100. If I just go with 'no NCD', the premium is the same, albeit a different insurer.
That said, I was expecting it to be closer to maybe £1.5k-£2k, so I feel like I have done OK. I always go thru Compare the Market.

Positive they check with some of check, recall my roof leaking but my insurance company at the time wouldn’t pay out as they said it was my builder’s shit work. We moved insurance companies and I didn’t bother to mention it as they hadn’t paid out but my new insurance company were fully aware of it.

I was with Adrian flux for 13 years. I was paying £433 fully comp /recovery/ ‘flux drive’ ( fully comp on any other vehicle) full no claims , 3 pts. It jumped to £1253 and they were ‘very sad to see me leave’ they were a fecking joke , I went with Hastings direct at £370

There's no real deterrent or punishment for not having insurance. I've watched quite a few Traffic Cops and Police Interceptors programmes and they're forever catching people who are driving without a licence or insurance and are often under the influence of drink &/or drugs. In many cases they just get a driving ban (which won't stop them from driving), a fine of £100-200 ish, and sometimes some community work. If a fine is imposed why not include the cost of the insurance that they've ignored buying ?

Couple of things cause this.
1. For years this country has been known as rip off Britain and yet in all those years people have just bent over and took it. No demonstrations nothing. When you get that type of reaction then its only going one way and thats more rip offs.
secondly, as a law abiding driver you are now forced to pay into a fund to provide cover against those who can't be bothered to insure themselves. So although they may be law breaking, you and me are paying to insure them should we ever meet one on the road and need some recompense.

Plenty of insurance companies state you won’t lose your no claims if you get hit by an uninsured driver, which basically means there’s loads of uninsured drivers out there.

Thats true, but it's because included in your premium is a surcharge which covers you. Which is like saying you will pay more to cover the uninsured driver in case they hit you. They get their money either way.

I have to pay £115 excess but when I got a quote the windscreen place reckon if I was to purchase it’d cost close on £1500, yes £1500.

TV license fee going up £10.50, do I actually need one. We only watch Disney, Netflix and Prime anyway, the latter being my daughter’s account. Once I get my Dodgy Fire Stick Disney/Netflix oh and our BT package are binned. We used to save each month but have no chance now it’s f’in ridiculous

Another nail in the rip off Britain coffin each and every one of us is lying in. Nobody does anything about it, we pay it anyway and all the companies know this - they know full well they can get away with it and they do, then next years financial targets will be to surpass this year, so it will go up again and again etc etc.
The excuse after Covid was a sudden spike in accidents, after months of hardly anyone on the roads and still paying full premiums!? No shit Sherlock!
It’s a bloody waste of time living my life in this country, my biggest life regret staying here, get fisted at every bastard turn.
Now if this was the French, the place would be on fire…

The potholes mean there are more stones on the crumbling roads getting kicked up at windscreens- saw the car in front hit the hole and the stone incoming. £1500 quote-Windscreen company clearly determined to steer people down the insurance route. No claims won't be affected but I'm sure my renewal quote will hammer me.

Helps keep you in shape to find a sugar momma as well. It's actually a tricycle he rides. Don’t start me on tricycles…. There’s an old bloke I regularly get stuck behind on the Nantwich road, not exaggerating but he’s a menace on his tricycle soooo slow on a 60 mph twisty country road, “but” to piss me off even more he’s got himself a flat peddle bike which he he literally lies down on with a little flag waving on the back, I’ve even seen him late at night on it. 100% he’ll get hit by a vehicle, he’s a menace to himself and road users. Oh and surely cyclists should be expected to pay some liability type road insurance as at the end of the day they do use the roads and can cause accidents??

Best answer is for every new road built to include a cycle lane like they do abroad keep bikes separate otherwise they just piss each other off

I recently changed jobs and gave up a company car…I purchased a small 1.6 diesel hatchback. The quotes I had were scandalous considering I was was 60 years old, clean license and I have never had an accident in 40+ years of driving…it really is RIP OFF BRITAIN…we need to be more like the French and kick back and give the people in power hell.

Same here. I was made redundant a few years ago and had had a company car for 20+ years, no accidents etc but my own car insurance went up by over 40% for a 1.6 saloon with one company ! They said they didn't recognise my driving history as it was "company business" not "social and pleasure" so I was basically starting from scratch. I eventually found one at a more acceptable price but it really is a rip-off.
