Midweek games and approaching the ground from the the Kings Hall cark park to be greeted by the floodlights behind the Boothen End.They seemed to light up all of Stoke. Pure magic.

the old red rails that use to run across the boothen end used to sit on them as a kid ,,,,,used to get knocked off them every time we scored ;d

The Golden Goal Girl.... ;D Ahhh happy days, didn't Terry Conroy marry her?
The kiddies paddock, where I started my love affair with this mighty club.

Ive never settled at the Brit. In fact I fucking hate the place. Its a sterile experience although that should improve when consistently full. I dont feel at home. Its infrastructure is shite and with the exception of the Riverside I cant think of a ground more logistically challenging.
I loved the Vic. The smell, the noise. Ive sat in all four stands with a ST in the Boothen, Butler, Boothen Stand and old/new Stoke Ends.
I miss the old open Stoke End. I was a nipper and could watch the Boothen End swaying/cheering. Outside was the old club shop, badge and programme seller, hot dog man and so on.
I also miss midweek games that just seemed to have a special atmosphere. The lights, the smell, the crack.

Agree with all that Dave, karma for you! As an adult going to the Beehive before the match and drinking the best bitter in the world, then walking down the hill to the ground, christ I'm getting a lump in my throat here!

Standing, turning up 5 minutes before k.o., being close to the pitch, the Boothen Paddock, getting off the ground easily, the mentals, how intimidating the place was and the fading memories. Still miss the place like mad.

Was never old enough to enjoy the place really, only 5 when we left, but I think that the standing is the thing that is most missed, the atmosphere accelerates much more quickly and people are in a much more confined space meaning that people are encouraged to join in. When you go to Cardiff and Colchester away, I imagine it barely scratches the surface of the Vic but, the atmos is better tenfold.

The move from the Vic was one of the reasons I failed to continue to follow Stoke (that and the fact that sitting down behind the goal at the Boothen End was just pointless IMHO). I just loved the atmosphere.

Going into the boothen end through season ticket holders only turnstile, and bypassing the concourse under the boothen
The old programme shop that was on the corner
standing with my back to the wall at the back of the boothen swinging off the roof girders
being at a full house and yet when we scored a good ten feet would open up infront of me . Thats what proper metals are, when you can move around
seeing smoke billowing out of the roof at flood lit games

THE VIC - brings back many many happy memories. Here are just 5 of the best
1. Dumping Manure out of the cup in front of 49000+ 2. Stuffing The Arse 5-0 the year they did the double 3. Euro night against the then mighty AJAX 4. A vague memory of a Dobing hat trick to avoid relegation 5. Beating Leeds 3-2 (from 2-0 down) to end their long unbeaten record
Happy Days Any others out there?

For some reason I always remember walking along Lime Street for a midweek game in the winter, puddles on the floor and seeing the reflection of the floodlights in them. Seeing the Boothen Stand and building apprehension the closer to the ground I got. Wondering who will be playing tonight. Hope we win, freezing my nuts off. And then getting into the Boothen End at the corner between the Boothen Stand and the Boothen End, I would always look up to the Boothen to see how many were in. Making my way through the Boothen to the usual spot and joining in conversations with other regulars about anything really. We were all there to see the game, support the team together, and if we were playing shite we would all moan together! Everyone with the same asperations and working class lives enjoying each others company. It cannot be replaced. I have to add though, although a different venue and not the same, I have adjusted to the Brit and last season was obviously the best season there yet. There were occasions when the stadium seemed to be waking up at last, some really loud delilahs.
I look forward to much more of that next year, it was time we moved and although I voted to stay at the Vic, I think it was right to move on now in reflection.

Having to negotiate the fence and the pit to get on the pitch.
Remember it kicking off after 1 game and a copper on his horse going up the steep steps at the back of the Boothen. I still cant believe he never fell off.

The moaners in the Boothen Paddock, of which i was one! ;D The Vic was unique. You could have a small crowd of 7 or 8 thousand and the place would still generate a good atmosphere and make the opposition feel intimidated. The Brit is our home but memories of our spiritual home will never fade.

Paying 5p to get in the PMT club, walking from the PMT to the Boothen and paying £7.00 to get in, Standing on the terrace and spending 5 minutes trying to find my mates after we had scored! They were great times but we now have the chance to create new great times for a new generation of fans. Look back with affection but look forward with exitement

Personally I cant really add to what has been said on this post
My whole life revolved around saturday (or whatever night match) at the Vic
I have posted this before, and I really do feel sorry for the younger generation today, who have only experienced the Brit
The Vic and the REAL Boothen End was something that I will cherish until the day that i die full stop
Ask Huddysleftfoot or Wizzardofthedribble - they know EXACTLY what I mean

Watching Graham Shaw blast it at Mike Hooper's legs when he should have gone round him. That could have been the scalp of all time.
