Why are so many of our MPs member of groups which are labelled as "friends of Israel" and who funds these groups?
I guess what makes it more startling for me is we don't have friends of Netherlands, friends of Ireland, friends of New Zealand groups which fund large amounts of MPs. So why Israel above all other countries? Its not even a nato member.

This isn't a Palestine v Israel thread. And as far as I'm aware the group you posted doesn't exert significant influence over our politics. Wes Steeting is a member of the group you posted for instance and he's anything but a "friend" of Palestine. A group in name and little else more. When 40% of labours cabinet has been funded by friends of a foreign government then surely its something which needs asked. Who is bankrolling these groups and what are their donations being used for.

It's similar to the connection between mp's and lawyers. Most mp's are lawyers and they seem to set up laws which provide lawyers with the best security especially with legal aid. It's like making sure they have something to fall back on should the electorate sack them.

i don't think friends of ireland or new zealand exert significant influence over our politics either ?
i suppose its cos we were involved in the creation of the jewish state , guilt perhaps ?

I once got invited to a business do.
After a couple of days I got uninvited as it was only for Jewish people. Related to real estate and construction.
This was in London.
I wasn't impressed.

How did they know you weren’t Jewish? I had a foreskin. Seriously though, it's obvious. I wasn't regarded as part of the community.

How did they know you weren’t Jewish? It's become a bit of a running joke with me and my missus that whenever I go into the village or to Tesco during one of the religious festivals I always get an Orthodox Jew on some stall asking me if I'm Jewish and trying to hand me a leaflet. (I have dark hair, relatively dark skin and a beard so I guess I look like a lot of other Jews in the area in that regard). I always tell them politely that I'm not but "Chag sameach" or "Puream samach" or whatever the particular holiday is but much to my wife's amusement they sometimes blank me, turn their back on me and start another conversation

Always wise to follow the money He who pays the piper calls the tune which is why Israel are allowed to commit genocide on a biblical scale Most of the people who can call them to account are already on the payroll
