Anyone had a Front and Rear dash cam fitted and who by please.
Popped into Halfords and they “seem” to have plenty of choices and fit for £70.
There’s so many dickheads on the road and supposedly having such things fitted reduces your insurance payments??

I had one fitted front and back by a ( an excellent)local garage that I've been with for over 20 years.....They said fitting the back one proved difficult and they would not do it again ( I think they, at first, connected to the wire that is always live to the 12v at the back of the car( in a Volvo)) If I was going to do it again, which I am now I've changed my car, I would go to a main dealer first. There are probably more on the board who know much more about this than me.

Bought a nextbase and got George Rhodes garage Knypersley to hard wire it to the ignition rather than just plugging it in. Great camera, incredible images and you can report segments via the app, something I've used on one occasion. They didn't charge too much either, about £30 ish if memory serves. Just front facing.

I've had a Viofo front mounted dash cam for about two years. I wouldn't bother about a rear facing cam for a few reasons. Firstly, 95% of hazards are in front of you. A 140-160 degree lens will capture everything you need. Secondly, wiring can be tricky and messy either through the headliner or carpet and trim. Thirdly, if you have a dual cam system powered by a single source if one of them goes wrong for any reason neither will function. If a rear facing camera is an absolute necessity, rig it up as a stand-alone system. Here's a great forum for dash cam owners and would-be owners. dashcamtalk.com/forum/

You would have thought they were integrated into a cars system as standard by now but guessing they aren't

It's incredible isn't it, when you think of all the tech that new a car comes with as standard.
I keep meaning to get one but always end up not getting round to doing so, I know it's going to end up costing me in the end.

I’ve telephoned Audi in Crewe, £595. Rang Audi in Stoke £800… Had a service a few weeks ago at Audi Crewe and informed I needed Brake fluid and to tick the email box to authorise them doing the work at £108, rang a local garage and quoted £50. I rang Audi back and that I’d had a quote for £50, then told we’ll match it…. 🤬

You would have thought they were integrated into a cars system as standard by now but guessing they aren't Some manufacturers offer built-in cameras as an option, such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Tesla. Toyota in the US offers cameras as an optional extra in most of their cars and pickups.

You would have thought they were integrated into a cars system as standard by now but guessing they aren't I believe some manufacturers are put off due to local privacy regulations. In some countries a dashcam is classed as a surveillance camera.
