It makes me smile at some of the shit people reminisce about from our time in the Championship since we’ve come down. I’m struggling to think of 5 players I’d want back with how they played for us. Collins and Powell are my two standouts. (Powell in his prime btw, I actually wouldn’t want him back as is). I don’t even particularly want Souttar back. I wanted Bidace back but based on his form elsewhere. And that’s about it. And to think some thought Wilmot was a like for like swap with Collins… We’ve had done right Lemons here in the last few years

Philipp Wollscheid would look good in our defense 😉 I actually liked him, despite his lack of running ability You know what these clowns aren't a patch on him. Our actual defensive stats with him playing were pretty good and that was in the league above.

The only thing Danny Batth’s post-Stoke exploits show - and it’s actually very instructive, a lot of people should take note - is that you can be pretty fuckin wank and still get in the playoffs.

Three key players, asset stripped out of the team in the last c12 months. For those we owned and how they have played elsewhere; Doughty.

I can't disagree with many of the comments on who we have signed since relegation could be considered a success, although I think comments on Stoke players are generally harsh. Many are quite satisfactory professional footballers and as we have seen have succeeded at other clubs.
The point I wish to make (for the umpteenth time!) is football is a team game and how well players perform depend on other factors such as how they are used, the system adopted, and how well thy gel together - the success of partnerships has already been mentioned above.
Powell has been one of our most talented players, but he is not a team player. He is an individualist and often was not on the same page as his team mates. He was full of clever flicks, reverse passes etc. but 9 times out of ten they went to nobody and possession was lost.
Stoke's ability to buy players has been shocking since the 4th year of Hughes tenure. The only players who have been decent have been ones developed from the academy or young players from other clubs who have their career ahead of them, like Brown and Tymon. I would put Bae in that group - remember how young they are/were.
That's all down to management : who you buy/loan and how you use them. Loaning policy is another issue. Loaning a young player is no good because they are more interested in their future career at the owning club. Older players on loan will put in effort till they have earned a contract, like Pearson, and then "retire". Loaning should only be done as a stop gap measure to fill gaps in the squad, not for main team players.
As for Baath, I thought he was a solid professional with limitations - never going to get us promoted. The Norwich manager used him wisely on Saturday, resting his main defender and putting on Baath to "shut up shop".

Let's face it Wagner gave our manager a manager masterclass on Saturday and handed his arse to him on a plate. If anyone sussed out bad tactics and delivered a damming verdict on them it was Wagner. Bringing on Baath just rubbed salt into an already very wounded animal.

Danny Baath walks into our team all day long. He can defend, jump, head, tackle and can even score the odd goal…everything our current CB’s can not do. McNally "scored" last week!

I was quite a fan of Danny Batth. I don’t know if we’re just so accepting of mediocrity now but I always thought he was solid. Useless on the ball mind but give me a defender who can defend before I even worry about them playing out from the back. I’d take him a million times over Ben Wilmot.

He was shite for us. Under pressure he kept heading the ball straight up in the air or to the opposition or both. He would make as many mistakes as our defenders if he was still here he may well have made as many mistakes as our current defenders..... but as your message says..... he kept heading the ball..... thats something our current centre backs seem devoid of doing. He was and is miles better than what we have..... let's not let pretend..... but by the same token... as another poster says.... he was earning more than our current back 4.... so he had to be moved on
