Auf weidersehen pet series 1 was filmed in 1982, so it hard to believe where the years went. It has to be said he was absolutely brilliant in it (as they all were). He got a reputation as a ‘diva’ during series 2. but His objections to the inclusion of the female characters in the series 2 Spanish sequences did dilute what the programme was about. Blink and you’ll miss it, but he’s also an extra in Get Carter. Happy birthday Oz.

In my top 5 favourite programmes of all time.
He and Tim Spall were the standouts but they all played there part.
The later series’s were OK but the first 2 were gold.

“I couldn’t give a monkeys chuff who you are.”
There’s so many great moments but this one has to be my number one. What a sad loss Gary Holton was to British acting. I do wonder if there’d have been a series 3 if he’d not passed away so suddenly. Him and Richard Beckinsale were the 2 for me that could have been huge still now if they were still alive.

I believe series 3 was planned with the lads working at the British Embassy in Russia. If I remember correctly this story was included in one of the later series. I think Gary Holton was lined up to be Nick Cotton in Eastenders but that never happened for obvious reasons.
